[Sakura] Aim for the summit (Original)

Another SOTW attempt (although you can probably guess what my style is by now).

I didn't win this time, but I already knew that I'd be getting creamed in these things against Showcase vets.

At least it serves as a good experience thing for what to do in future pieces.

Ideally, this was the version that I wanted to post; however given that it is indeed written in Hawaiian (which is not one of my mainstream languages), majority of you wouldn't know what it translated into. Although, you could probably discern the translation from the sig/tag itself, because that's what it was designed after.

The translation for the text is pretty much on the English version you already saw: "Strive for the summit".

It's basically meant to represent the full extent of your abilities, and you trying to get there.

I probably took the literal path of it, and had Latios soaring over the top of the mountain.

Most (if not all) fonts do not support long vowels and/or the 'okina (the thing that looks like an apostrophe), so I had to make substitutions as necessary.

I have to be critical on this because of how language works, and education reasons.

Written properly, it should look like this: Kūlia i ka nuʻu

------------

Anyway, CnC.

Go watch some tutorials. I don't mean this in a harsh way but you have a great sense of creativity-also move away from your pokemon renders. Freshen it up a bit, you have potential to push and make some cool pieces but I think you need to grasp some basics and kinda learn how to mash effects better.

Night did tell me to continue looking at tutorials on dA, which I am.

(Also giving .Rai's one a bit of a read also)

Effect-wise, I need to brush up on stuff.

(Also should try doing other things besides using my brush pool)

Yeah, I need to find non-Pokemon renders to do stuff with. (Not really into the more gothic images that you and a lot of the other Showcase vets use, but I know there are other images that I like.)

To be honest, I was going to enter a piece with Saffira, however I opted to do something smaller, given the size.

(I'll post that one later; would've been a 550 x 550 piece)

------

Looking it over, I think that one looked a lot nicer (although probably because I spent more time on it).
