NXT opened with footage of Finn Balor defeating Kevin Owens to win the NXT Championship at the Beast in the East live special. The narrator closed by saying, "The reign of the demon has begun"...

The NXT opening aired and then a shot aired of the crowd at Full Sail University...

Rich Brennan, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves were on commentary...

 

NXT Champion Finn Balor made his entrance dressed in street clothes and carrying the title belt. Once he was in the ring, the fans chanted "You deserve it." Greg Hamilton interviewed Balor in the ring. Balor spoke about his past and working in Japan for eight years.

 

Hamilton brought up the NXT Title match that Balor will have with Kevin Owens on the live special in Brooklyn and said they would have their contract signing later tonight. Balor ran through Owens' WWE and NXT accomplishments. Despite the impressive list, Balor noted that Owens didn't beat him. Balor said he will walk out of Brooklyn as the NXT Champion...

 

The broadcast team spoke at ringside and hyped the matches that would air later in the show...

 

Backstage, Devin Taylor interviewed Eva Marie, who thanked William Regal for the opportunity. She told the fans to open their eyes because they are going to like what they see...

 

1. Eva Marie vs. Cassie.

Eva came out wearing a long red robe and had red gear with black trim underneath it. She looked great, but that's never been the issue. Eva performed a running senton for a two count and then worked Cassie's arm.

 

Cassie came back with a jaw jacker and a few nice high kicks for a near fall as one of the broadcast team members noted that she was trained by Lance Storm. Eva came back by shoving her into the middle rope and then followed up with Sliced Break No. 2 for the win...

Eva Marie beat Cassie in 3:55.

 

 

William Regal was talking on the phone as he entered his office. He found Tyler Breeze lying on the desk. Breeze told Regal he better have something good for him at the live special, then left the room. Regal apologized to the person on the phone and went back to his conversation...

 

2. Baron Corin vs. an unnamed opponent (The Indy Wrestler Mr. 450, but his NXT name wasn't announced).

Corin shoved his opponent into the ropes and immediately hit End of Days...

Baron Corbin won a squash in 0:10.

 

3. Samoa Joe vs. Mike Rawlis.

The broadcast team hyped Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno as the main event of the NXT television show two weeks from now. Joe won the match with the Muscle Buster...

Samoa Joe beat Mike Rawlis in 2:05.

 

 

Backstage, Devin interviewed Dana Brooke and Emma. Devin said Bayley told her she would do more than hug Emma, who said that's a little creepy. She said maybe now it's time she broke her childish spirit. Dana and Emma hugged, then Dana patted Devin on the head...

4. Bayley vs. Emma (w/Dana Brooke).

Emma wore one of Bayley's bracelet gimmicks and taunted her with it. Bayley took it from her. The referee took it and then Emma used the brief distraction to attack Bayley. Emma targeted Bayley's injured hand/wrist, which was wrapped.

 

The referee ejected Dana from ringside when he caught her interfering. Bayley rolled up Emma for two. Emma rolled through and got a two count of her own. Bayley hit her belly-to-belly suplex for the win.

 

After the match, Bayley took the mic and said "that felt amazing." The fans chanted "welcome back." She said she is back to be the next NXT Women's Champion. She said she has to beat the very best and she wants a match with Charlotte...

Bayley defeated Emma in 5:30.

 

 

A recap of the NXT women on Raw was shown... Backstage, Devin interviewed Charlotte about Bayley wanting the match. Charlotte said what's happening on Raw is a statement and they're finally getting a chance to do what they've done in NXT for years. She said she would give Bayley a chance. Dana entered the picture and said people boo her and questioned if it's because she doesn't have a famous last name. Dana wants a match with Charlotte, who said the match with Bayley can wait another week...

5. The Vaudevillains vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton.

In the end, English used a neckbreaker and then Gotch got the win for his team...

The Vaudevillains beat Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton (didn't get an official time).

 

Backstage, Blake and Murphy applauded the Vaudevillains win, then Alexa Bliss said Blake and Murphy would still be tag champions after the teams meet...

 

William Regal stood in the ring where a table was set up for the contract signing. Kevin Owens was introduced first. Balor was out next and was all smiles as he made his entrance. Owens asked Balor how it feels to be the NXT Champion.

 

Owens asked Balor how it will feel to defend the NXT Title on the biggest match in NXT history, then taunted the crowd by saying the match will take place in Brooklyn. The fans booed. Owens boasted about what he's done in his first six months in WWE/NXT.

 

Owens said he's going to show Balor "and all these idiots" that what happened in Japan was a fluke. Owens said he will become the first two-time NXT Champion and then take Balor out. Balor scoffed at the idea that his win in Japan was a fluke. He said he's heard it all before and will shove Owens' words down his throat.

 

Balor signed the contract. Owens signed the contract. Regal also signed the contract. Regal said it's official that on August 22, Owens will face Balor for the NXT Championship. Owens knocked the table into Balor, then pulled his face into the table.

 

Owens took out Regal. Owens tried to do more to Balor, who fought back with a forearm and then kicked Owens, who took a powder. Balor stood in the ring with his title belt to close the show...
