I'm attending Otakon 2015 for the second year in a row in Baltimore, MD, and I have decided to know about YCM's past and future convention experiences. Any cons you have been to and loved/despised? Do you cosplay? Anything you want to say about the quality and experience of the event?

I go to AFAID (Anime Festival Asia Indonesia) pretty much every year since 2013. Attended last year in a cosplay, was quite fun, got a lot of stuff I wanted. 2013 was a bit less interesting due to me having to tag along with two idiots who kept looking at ecchi pics, but overall the expeience was fun~

I'm thinking of turning up this year in a cosplay, too. I'm considering either IA, Yuzuki Yukari, maaaaaybe Yuudachi Kai Ni if I can manage the cannonbits. If I don't manage one of those three, I'll just turn up as Golfer!Youmu or Dante!Chen. Such a shame I couldn't attend 2014's Singapore event. Yuyoyuppe and D.Watt was performing there TwT

I've always wanted to go to a con, but I was never allowed because I was apparently far too naive for such a place. :T

Dang it, my older brother was allowed to go, but I never was!

Still want to go sometime, though I doubt I'd cosplay. I generally dislike the attention.

I want to go to Kawaii Kon one of these days, but unfortunately, I'm either stuck in classes when it happens (which has happened at least once or twice), no friends to go with and a lot of other stuff related to commitments on days it occurs.

As for the cosplay stuff, answer is pretty much no right now.

(I don't have time + money to design outfits for those, plus the above regarding studies and other things.)

I attended the Belfast Comic Con in May, going as Dharc, albeit with a right arm. It was fun, lack of money meant I couldn't get much though. Next year might actually attempted to do a good cosplay and enter the masquerade, though chances of winning is unlikely. Wanting to go to one of the larger conventions in England at some point but before any of that, get comfortable around crowds.

I have little to no interest in them but I'll most likely be poking my head into London MCM Expo assuming YCS London is set up the same as it has been in the last 2 years (most likely) and it's at the same time and entry to the YCS gets you free entry to the Expo. No idea what to expect, but I guess it should be decent.

Annually go to AFAID (Anime Festival Asia Indonesia), and planning to go there again this year, cosplaying as Renko Usami if I could convince my wife to cosplay as Maribel Hearn and be there too.

Other than that I go to smaller conventions usually just for fun. Occasionally do crossplays too, at times.

The main draw of conventions for me is the merchs I could buy there, and how it's a great place for members of fan communities that I'm in to gather and have fun. The occasional card game events are also quite fun to participate in.

For a few years in high school I went to MTAC (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention) with my siblings/friends, but it's kinda small and shitty looking back on it so I haven't been in awhile. Since entering college, with the anime club I went to Anime St. Louis my freshman year, and ACen (Anime Central) the following two years, and ACen is amazing.

As for cosplay, my very first cosplay was Wrath from the 2003 FMA anime. I've also done Steve from Minecraft, Richter from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (I don't have any pictures, but

), Titan Eren (picture), and Mr. Diddlez (picture).

I always enjoy the fun panels, I like meeting people like pro voice actors, I have fun playing games since there's usually a game room (and Smash Bros. tourneys), and the dealer rooms are always great with so much cool merch.

I really really hope you manage to convince her this, simply because it would be fantastic.

I wish I had the financial means to go to SDCC, simply because the MtG promos available there multiply in value by 5 or 6 times within a week.

[spoiler=they also look dope as all hell]

I've been to 3 conventions. Kitsunecon in Appleton, WI and I've been to AMKE twice.

Likely won't be going to any conventions for the rest of the year, but I'll most likely be at AMKE next year and possibly even ACEN where Shradow and I can finally fight to the death.

I would consider cosplaying, but I have neither the time, money, or patience for it.

...Otakon is in Baltimore?

I've only been to Baltimore's Comic Con twice before, and only on the third day each time; The cosplays are pretty amusing, but I'm more for the merch/etc.

Never knew that they had their own Comic-Cons over there. There's a good range of merch over there, but there's a good amount of panels to go to as well.

They also had Bronycon twice over in Baltimore

Baltimore, for wahtever reason, just seems like a good place for Cons, I guess.

German conventions must be boring for you, haha, but I went to the "Gamescom", a German Gaming Convention in Cologne, with Button and some friends of his in August. It was a beautiful day, there were so much things to see, so much stuff to buy (rest in peace, pocketmoney, sigh) and there were so many nice people. I had so much fun, we all did, and it was a beautiful experience. I'm really looking forward to go there the next year, and I'm pretty sure I'll cosplay Levy McGarden, I go for a "cold" cosplay, because it was so hot there, damn, like 40°C or something.
