OPD Clause

The more famous cards with OPD clauses are those with bonkers effects that really, really, really deserves to only be OPD. Monsters such as Blackwing Zephyros and Glow-Up Bulb. Others have it on an effect because it may be somewhat close to pulling that effect off over and over, like Tasuke Knight. Tasuke could have avoided the clause by becoming banished when it leaves the field, but the OPD clause is also nice here because it means you can't just dump a bunch of Tasuke Knights and get three Battle Faders from out of nowhere. Then you have Electromagnetic Turtle, which is Swift Scarecrow from the Graveyard.

Looking at the cards with OPD effects, there's also quite a lot who have them only since they were so experimental. In this case: Unknown Synchron. It's a Level 1 Tuner CyDra, essentially, but given how powerful Tuners that could Summon themselves seemed to turn out (Bulb, Spore, Plaguespreader at that time), they might have given it that just to stay on the safe side.

If you're looking to design things with OPD clauses, I'd go for giving them to cards so that they don't end up repeating themselves over and over again (Electromagnetc Turtle going off thrice sounds really annoying), since the ones who have OPD clauses because of uber-powerful effects like Zephy and Bulb tend to be looked down on heavily.
