Tomahawk is one of my favorites because 3x2 axe

I only prefer Number over Search because lock on type chips are very underwhelming, but that said, Search is the better cross because of the shuffle.

But by far my favorite is Shadow. funk yo hazard tiles, funk yo broken tiles, funk you I have passive Anti-Damage, also I have Backstab.

Okay.

So, BowlMan chip, is it any good?

Yes.

Homing pins for all unoccupied spaces in the row it's used on and they do about 50 dmg a piece. And then there's the bowling ball that does a lot of damage too.

Much better than Mistman which is only good for viruses typically.

Star Force battle systems are like a reduced version of Battle Network.

Rather than having your 3x3 area to move about, you only have a 1x3 back row to step left and right on. However, you have a lock-on function that helps with close-range cards - provided you successfully lock onto the targets.

Custom screen is a 2x3 area. Codes don't exist, but the position of the cards matter. You can only select cards in the same column or copies of the same card to load up for use for the turn. White cards are like * codes, and are exempt from these rules. Certain powerups let you also expand the selection to cards in the same row and improve card selection.

Instead of the Navicust, your Brotherbands will grant you additional abilities - or potential to install them. This depends on the game. You can forge Brotherbands with certain in-game NPCs so that you're not entirely bummed out if you can't access player-interaction functions.

SF3 has the Break -> Sword -> Wind sub-cycle. They don't have Cursor to round things off.

Either version can get the other version's Noises (e.g. You can get Wolf Noise on Black Ace or Gemini Noise on Red Joker) but it's a slightly rarer occurrence. But, yes, Merging them creates a Sword-based monster.

  • 3 weeks later...

So has anyone played these games recently or a long time ago?

I recently had a nostalgia outbreak and decided to download MMBN 3 - White (Man's choice cuz no folderback) from the E shop channel. (They give you the exclusive chips you'd need to trade over, which is why i bought it from there instead of using a rom + other reasons).

I'm having a lot of fun, but post game is what i'm most looking forward to.

Anyone else played these games?

Hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting in a thread that hasn't been posted in for a couple of weeks, but i just had to do so whenever I saw the title. MMBN is one of my favorite video game series, and one that I was introduced to when I was like... 7 or something I think. MMBN3 was one of my first games in general, but even back then I could tell the stories, characters, and gameplay were something special and interesting. Even though it was a "kid's" game, it still had some rather intense moments, like when Flameman and Mr.Match were literally suffocating people to death and you needed to go hunt them down in the Undernet (which was a really creepy place). Alpha was also a really intimidating final boss, and it's still one of the few boss fights that make me go "OHSHI-". That battle theme? Damn son.

I own MMBN 2-6, with both versions of 6 (Gregar and Falzar). It could just be nostalgia, but I prefer 3 out of all them. 5 (Team Protoman) and 6 would be my next favorites, with 5 being more in the lead because of the dark chips.

I think Starforce is great, but sadly I've only been able to own one of the first games that came out for it, Leo. The series seems to stay true to the gameplay of the BN series, but it spices things up by having different themes like the EM Aliens and EM Fusions. I really want to get ZerkerXSaurian and Black Ace, and have wanted to for a while now, so I'll have to see when I can get them.

Anyway, in reference to the OP I quoted, I actually didn't know that they were selling MMBN3 on the E-Shop :o! That's actually pretty cool. Do they have any of the other BN games, and are they relatively cheap?

They have up to mmbn4 on the e shop I believe and they're pretty cheap so i'd say go for it if you can.

Leo was the only SF game I 100%, but I beat the post game in all of them.
