Traptrix Rafflesia‎‎

Recommended Posts

card100026359_1.jpg

Plant-Type

300 ATK/2500 DEF

2 Level 4 monsters

This card is unaffected by the effects of Trap Cards while it has Xyz Material.

"Traptrix" monsters you control, except "Traptrix Rafflesia‎‎", cannot be destroyed by battle or cards effects, and cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effects.

Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and send 1 "Hole" Normal Trap Card from your Deck to the Graveyard that meets its activation requirements;

this effect becomes that Trap Card's effect.

cool....there quite a lot of trap holes so your opponent really have limited choice with monsters action while this is face-up

it also send the trap...which can be recovered with dionea later....unaffected by trap mean it also avoid a lot of common removal/disruption

i hope it have at least 2400 atk/def so it can be a bit difficult to ram

also lovely artwork...

This card makes Traptrix Dionaea infinitely better. I can see the prices rising already.
The protection is also amazing, making other Traptrix monsters you control nearly invincible.

And I am not sure if I am understanding this right, but if you send Bottomless Trap Hole for its effect, each time your opponent summons a monster with 1500 or more ATK is banished, right? And the effect lingers permanently?

What I like the most from this card is the text and PSCT on the last effect: now we have an updated reference for effects that "copy" other card's effects; this should be handy for  card-making.

Anyway, I find the card good but not amazing. Sure, activating Trap Holes from the deck plus the Trap immunity is nice, but As Zauls pointed out, the low ATK is a hindrance since it cannot threat the opponent nor push with attacks. As a generic Rank4, I guess this should be a fine choice for a first-turn Rank4, but after that, most likely there will be better Rank4s to go for, depending on the situation of course.

Actually seems to bee 300/2500.

Like the game needs more offensive Rank 4s. This card's stats make sense because of how Traptrix seem to have flavor involving luring people into traps. It by nature should be passive.

It needs more R4 (and Xyz in general for lower ranks) to sit on without doing this.

The issue with R4 is that while it has decent/better answering (Dire Wolf, DRXD, 101, Exciton [not really offensive], especially Castel), it lacks QUALITY monsters to sit on on the whole.

While powerful, a 300 ATK monster that you cannot remove without expending resources or playing F0 is not what is needed.

Lavalval Chain and Minerva are the closest to what's needed. They're almost totally generic, and they give you reasonably sized monsters while giving you a form of setup. King Feral can also do this, but not the same as it requires an enginge with it (generically) or a deck where it works in-theme.

Nyarla also does this in Nekroz, due to Herald of the Arc Light, that is a 2600 ass that searches every other turn and can evolve into Azazoth.

Floaters like Triverr also help this.

As a generic sense, R4 is full of power plays, but the cards that make you less opponent reliant are few and far between, and are usually unable to hurt a fly on their own (This, Cologne, 80), and they just further saturate the R4 pool with weak choices.
