(GigaDrillBreaker)
Cube is a format of Magic: the Gathering where players draft from a sealed set of cards constructed beforehand. A video explaining cube can be found . My LGS has this cube fully assembled, and my friends and I tend to spend most of the day each Friday drafting from it. Really is a ton of fun. Has anyone else here played Cube? What are everyone's opinions or experiences with it?
Simping For Hina
At my LGS, we just play Wizard's Holiday cube, and that's about it. I like cube more than most draft formats because it is more open or specific depending on how you design it, but the Power Cubes are always just the greatest. .Rai
Currently building an entirely custom one. I personally think that the Magic Online cube has an onslaught of problems that make it far less fun than customising it yourself, or get the LGS let people suggest changes. The fact that Channel is in it is problem #1.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
I remember about 2 weeks ago when drafting, my first pack had both Unburial Rites and Angel of Serenity. I kinda just freaked out about the idea of playing Innistrad-Ravnica Junk Reanimator and first-picked the Rites, and was somehow lucky enough to have Angel passed all around back to me. Also managed to get Thragtusk, Prime Time, Tooth and Nail, and Channel, so my deck was pretty dope. My biggest weakness in cube is that I pretty much always end up building midrange, even if a better deck could be made from the pack I receive. Last Friday a pick 1 Lodestone Golem had me thinking I was building affinity, but I just ended up with a Jund Midrange deck (with goodies like birthing pod, aether vial, and epocrasite, the first two of which synergize beautifully with the third). My friends and I are probably going to be assembling our own cube this summer, just trying to figure out a theme.

It's just that cubes (and particularly the MTGO cube) are usually very biased towards midrange. Aggro, for instance, is almost unplayable in the MTGO cube. Flame Dragon
My only experience with cube has been designing my own. I first made it as something to do at 2/3 in the morning over the summer and eventually picked up the cards. Since I don't have a massive budget to work with I kept it to commons and uncommons that are in Modern. ITs really hard to get enough people to play it, but I've had tons of fun updating, figuring out archetypes, and getting the cards to have tons of overlap. I've already figured out the changes I'm going to make when Origins comes out so now its a matter of waiting to get the cards.
Poc
A guy at my lgs had a pretty pimped unpowered cube that we would draft every Thursday. Eventually he sold it to the store so we stopped. It wasn't the most balanced cube since blue was just way too powerful but it was a fun time. Some guys and I are designing a modern cube right now, were trying to keep it balanced as possible but it's not an easy task. Limited really showcases how broken some cards are. Sixty
I used to have a pretty big peasant cube that gradually had some bomb rares added into it, but I since took it apart to build my Commander Cube, which isn't necessarily a cube as much as it is just a collection of same-sleeved cards that I can build EDH decks from on the fly.
