mitchermitcher
Plot Summary: In the year 2071, the Far East is ruled by angry gods. 20 years ago unknown life forms called “Oracle cells” begin their uncontrolled consumption of all life on Earth. Humanity both fears them and reveres them as "aragami." They are immune to all weapons and the mankind's numbers continue to dwindle. The last bastion of hope is the newly developed "God Arcs" weapons that utilize Oracle cells to fight back. The weapons wielders band together into an elite force dubbed "God Eaters." source: ANN and probably a bunch of other anime sites ufotable adapts a slightly decent Monster Hunter clone! Coming this season! This can only go well... but hey they're animating this hot Russian bombshell: [spoiler=bestgirl] So it'll be pretty good I'm sure. In all seriousness though, whether you played the game or not probably won't influence your enjoyment of this upcoming show too much. God Eater was decent but NOT decent for its main 'selling point', 'having a good story'. But if you enjoyed the story then good for you. I didn't but that's just another opinion. Although, considering the medium for this adaptation isn't s interactive, maybe the story'll flow better. They'll have to adjust the game's script into a seasonal 24-minute episode show format so it could be pretty promising. With our boy ufotable adapting the game, the fight scenes are going to be beautiful. And sometimes that's all you really need to enjoy life. Fight scenes and cheesy shounen-ish lines. And a decent soundtrack, which GE is known to have. According to official sources and one of Shradow's status update here, the first episode will be delayed for a week, but considering the finale of UBW aired half a week ago, that's quite understandable. If you've played the game, how do you think they'll handle the story? If you haven't, look forward to it in a week. EDIT: I decided to be a bit more arsed and looked up the anime in more detail. I would like to point out that the director credited on MAL for this show is 'Takayuki Hirao', the man behind Kara no Kyoukai's fifth movie. Disregard everything else I said. This is gong to be f***ing AMAZING. Probably.
Fusion X. Denver
I'm betting this will be one of the flagships for the new season. Probably.ufotable's a pretty great studio despite the mishandling of UBW's 2nd half. I'll agree on the main selling points probably being the fights and hopefully the director. KnK 5 was my favorite of the series, so that's assuring to me.
mitchermitcher
The first episode came out. It...wasn't bad but it could've been better? I liked the dull, maybe subdued mood, but the jump cuts and slow motion scenes need to stop. Seeing the various Aragamis animated was great. Seeing Licca animated was even better. Seeing Kouta in a normal uniform was weird but also nice. Seeing things happen inside the city was pretty interesting as well, considering most of the gameplay happens outside or in city ruins or somewhere other than the residential area. Fusion X. Denver
Okay start, I suppose. The one issue with me (and probably other people) is that it screamed Attack on Titan clone. So it'll have to set itself apart from the inevitable comparisons and try to stand on its own without being kinda generic like the pilot. But I like the animation and art style. I think Sidonia's the only other anime I know who had mostly CG animation, though I heard that didn't look that great. I think this does though, bar a couple moments here and there.
