Q: Why no Monk?

A: I find that Monk is mostly unnecessary. I haven't had a problem with needing Emeral so badly that I run out of Scattershot nukes with this much stun and draw, and I wanted to play cards that actually do something against the top decks, like Lose 1 Turn. Volcanics never Special Summon. We also rarely search outside of Rocket going to grab another Accelerator. Overall, I wanted to play more Traps as I feel this deck is at it's best when it sets 5 cards, summons Rocket and passes. The goal isn't to win quickly, it's to slowly drain and lock the opponent out of the game entirely. That's why I didn't want to run more spells that don't accomplish that purpose, like Upstart Goblin, instead opting for cards I want to have, rather than a card that trades into a new card.

Q: Why is Wild Fire here?

A: Wild Fire is a Scattershot that isn't dependant on having Scattershots in your deck or hand. That's what makes it strong. The fact it makes a token is nearly irrelevant, however the body can be nice in extremely simplified game states. It's here also because it sets up Blaze Accelerator Reload from the Graveyard, another quick play Raigeki. Damage is almost unnecessary because you deal 1500 every time you nuke with Scattershot. It isn't much, but it does add up very quickly. Simplifying the board state to make sure they can't stabilize while you lock them out with traps is important, and that's why I like Wild Fire. Credit to the YCMCS guy who topped with Volcanic for the idea, I believe it was Wildfire himself, actually?

Nope, that was me with the Wild Fire tech. Also, have you considered 2 mirror 1 air force? I feel like all the top decks that aren't Qli really hate that card.

As an aside, personally I never ran Monk for Emeral, but Lavalval Chain. Being able to set up a Reload/Shell or stack a Firestorm Guards (telegraph-y as that is) was really potent, and helped me get out of a lot of sticky hands.

Not a fan of triple mistake with only two Planters. It shuts down the draw engine that is shell.

I've considered bumping up to three Planter anyway. The card's really good in a deck like this because it refuels you with cards that generally tend to make advantage. As for Mistake in this deck in general, the fact it's so good against a lot of the decks right now justifies shutting down Shell for a while.

I don't think MST is needed because there's not a single maindeck floodgate that shuts you down bar, like, Macro Cosmos but that's so rare it's barely worth worrying about. I'd cut em for a Planter and maybe a Thunder King or something.

Yeah, I've been finding the mained MSTs quite superfluous. If I'm honest I mostly found them more useful for enabling Blaze Accelerator Reload than anything else, as bad as that sounds. MST the Reload, chain it, blahblah. Seems pretty niche and not worth the trouble most of the time.

Doing that a lot is a pretty good reason to play more Planter, I'd say.
