Flame Dragon
Containment Priest as an instant (more or less). Man, any hope I had for playing Abzan Megamorph just kind of rolled over and died.
Trebuchet MS
Containment Priest doesn't halt Tokens though. I find this card to have a lot more utility with the fact that it replaces itself. Although it's one turn behind halting an on-curve Show & Tell...

You can tell the different formats they were made for. This is very good in 60 card formats while Priest is much better in commander being permeant and being able to be played around on your end. I expect this to show up in a lot of sideboards in standard going forward, with a decent chance for Modern.
Trebuchet MS
Oh, it's 1W. So it can interfere with an on-curve Show&Tell.
Flame Dragon
Oh, it's 1W. So it can interfere with an on-curve Show&Tell. Problem is if they Show&Tell in an Omniscience, and if this does become popular I can see more Show&Tell builds going that route, if they aren't already. (My knowledge of Legacy isn't pretty minor). Poc
Definitely not as strong as containment priest but it's still a powerful tool against certain decks in modern. Great card, I expect it to see a lot of play.

Great card, I expect it to see a lot of play. I'm kind of surprised this isn't just Containment Priest. The card isn't tied to any plane and is the type of hate bear that is perfectly acceptable in Standard and Modern.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
I just finished my playset of collected company. Sonofajabroni.
Flame Dragon
I just finished my playset of collected company. Sonofajabroni. Between this and Infinite Obliteration I'm really happy I didn't move in on Deathmist Raptor. Though I feel this is more likely a strong sideboard card where as Infinite Obliteration COULD be main decked. Though I also could be overestimating how good these are against certain cards. bury the year
What I like about this is that it's not a hatebear like Containment Priest, but more of just a wide-reaching counterspell for that one blowout play. Which cantrips. If this doesn't see sideboard play in Modern I'll eat my hat. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up mainboarded.

Flame Dragon
Innistrad Is the card tied there or does it just work well there? My understanding was it could more or less be any place in the multiverse, but just happens to fit we'll on Innistrad. If it does, it will be infrequent. I would probably play it against GriselShoul, tbh. I can see this being good against GriselShoul and CoCo decks. Not too sure past that.
.Rai
Surely, the reasoning is the other way round? Between choosing a card that's more Innistrad-flavoured, and one less so, you choose the one more so, as Innistrad is one of the Origins planes. Containment Priest is pretty generic flavourfully, and probably not from Innistrad. Besides, I'm not sure whether you want Containment Priest to enter the Modern pool. I can't remember well but there was something about the Lunar Cycle in the Innistrad Lore that has to do with the moon being a symbol of blesssing. Well the picture depicts Zombies being burned by the New Monn's holy Light XD

I them going for a more flavorful card does make more sense. I don't think Containment Priest would be too oppressive in Modern, but, again, not always a good judge of power level.
