Frybread002
So after catching up with the meta, I really want to do a classic deck that uses today's best cards; Just wipping the opponent's field and beat them down. Hard. So far, this is my deck list: Spell Dark Core x3Dark Hole x 2Hammer Shot x 3Fissure x 3Swords of Revealing Light x2Axe of Despair x 3 Traps Torrential Tribute x 1Mirror Force x 2Storming Mirror Force x 1 As you can see, this is deck far from complete and in its early stages. I want personally want to send as many cards to their graveyard and punish them for having cards there; I am thinking about making this deck geared towards banishing them or doing burn damage. For the monsters, I am thinking about just using over powered level 4 monsters that eitheir have strong attacks or wipping the field effects. If anything, I want them to keep up with decks that swarm the field. I am making this deck for Dueling Network, so practically any card is viable. Wildflame
Is this for a RL deck?
Frybread002
Ah!? Can't believe I forgot we have virtual games! For now, I am gearing this towards Dueling Network.
GarlandChaos
>hammer shot>fissure>dark core>swords of revealing light>axe of despair>storming mirror force>torrential tribute Are you sure you're sober?
Wildflame
Oh. Then I'd suggest you to pick a theme/archetype you want to use, and start from there. And no, "beating your opponent down with overpowered level 4 monsters" isn't a theme. You'll have a really hard time winning, let alone keeping up with the meta, if you just put a bunch of unrelated cards together. Oh, and also, of all the Spells you mentioned, the only good one is Dark Hole, the rest are pretty suboptimal. The Traps are fine.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
Hammer Shot is actually fairly awesome, considering it doesn't target.
Frybread002
>hammer shot>fissure>dark core>swords of revealing light>axe of despair>storming mirror force>torrential tribute Are you sure you're sober?Good sir, if you are trying to criticize my choices for choosing these cards, then so be it. However, do not be a nuisance and criticize without providing an explanition. If you continue to keep doing this, then be courteous and PM me. Just posting an empty critique is quite rude and just results in my thread being bumped to the top, giving it unfair attention. The next time you do that again, I will use the report button. To Wildflame: I see what you mean, but seeing how there's a lot of themes that can get this job done, what do you recommend? I was thinking of using Six Samurai's or Ninja's since you mentioned it, however, those decks are rather slow and easy to overwhelm.
DuelSpectre
A good archetype to start off with is Blackwings. They have a somewhat straightforward play style and you can get a feel for how YGO plays right now. In addition, please read the Deck Building Guide in this section. It IS from 3 years ago, but it's so goddamn detailed and concise that you can learn quite a bit from it.
Wildflame
Samurai and Ninja are fine decks that can be played to some degree of success. Blackwings are nice and straightforward. Another personal recomendation is Lightsworn, although I don't really like the deck. You pick, we help you. And yeah, go read that guide.
Frybread002
My choice huh? Hmm...I guess Six Samurai. Although I am looking at warriros in general.
~Faytl~
In that note, Battlin Boxers are rather easy to learn with, especially since they benefit from a wide array of Trap cards like Safe Zone.
