[MTG][ORI] Day's Undoing, wizards wtf are you doing?

Who cares you'll lose the rest of your turn if you're gonna burn your opponents to death with Nekusar and Underworld Dreams anyway? <3

EDIT: Yes I'm aware that Nekusar triggers will be removed from the stack if you play this on your turn.

But I never planned on activating this at a speed that isn't instant. :3

Not quite so. The "end of turn" effect happens in the middle of Day's Undoing resolving, which means Neku triggers don't go on the stack and don't get exiled by the end of turn effect. Once Day's Undoing finishes resolving and "end of turn" happens, the game proceeds to the cleanup step, and then the Neku triggers go on the stack.

Seriously?

Pfft, even better then. Card is insane.

While yes, it can be given flash, I honestly doubt it will be worth it very often (though leyline in UWR is an interesting concept. Instant speed Verdict, anyone?)

Even so, the card is incredibly powerful. A friend of mine suggested using it in modern affinity, which doesn't seem like a bad plan. It replenishes the hand after dropping 'thopters and memnites, allowing them to follow one explosive turn with another. The problem with this use is that the 3 mana used to cast this could have been used on Signal Pests, Cranial Platings, or other goodies.

The card is incredibly powerful, no doubt, and I don't want to make the mistake so many did with Treasure Cruise, but I won't hold my breath for this to break eternal formats in half.

So, a little while later, a L1 judge confirms this...

713.1a. Exile every object on the stack, including the object that’s resolving. Remove all creatures and planeswalkers (including those that are phased out) from combat. All objects not on the battlefield or in the command zone that aren’t represented by cards will cease to exist the next time state-based actions are checked (see rule 704, “State-Based Actions”).

A triggered ability waiting to be put on the stack is an "object not on the battlefield or in the command zone", so it will cease to exist when State-Based Actions are checked, which happens before triggered abilities are put on the stack in the cleanup step.

This means Nekusar's triggered abilities will not trigger from drawing cards from Day's Undoing.

Oh well.
