DMunkyOz
If you have any ideas to improve this, tell me. CrabHelmet
Lesson 1: There's more to deckbuilding than throwing together a bunch of monsters of the same Attribute. Lesson 2: The banlist exists.
DMunkyOz
I know that there's more to deckbuilding than throwing cards together. I did put stratagy into it. And none of my cards break the ban list.
CrabHelmet
I know that there's more to deckbuilding than throwing cards together. I did put stratagy into it. Then what is your win condition? Because this sure looks like a bunch of random DARK monsters to me. And none of my cards break the ban list. You're wrong.
DMunkyOz
Ok, what cards are in violation of the ban list? And it is all dark monster, hence the name of this being Dark Deck. From the effects of all the cards that I used I would say they all compliment each other nicely though.
CrabHelmet
Ok' date=' what cards are in violation of the ban list?[/quote'] Call of the Haunted. It's banned. And it is all dark monster' date=' hence the name of this being Dark Deck. From the effects of all the cards that I used I would say they all compliment each other nicely though.[/quote'] No, they really don't. Your cards are just random DARKs; you've got a random D-Hero Defender over here and a random Big Koala over there and an equally random Dark Magician in another corner. And the s/t lineup is pretty random too.
DMunkyOz
I use the defender for its defence being 2700, meaning that even some of the higher levels can't destroy it, Des koala is to get rid of their life points quicker, and Dark Magician is, and has always been, a good card in my opinion. As for my spells and traps, those are used to destroy their monsters and get rid of their cards, while some drop their life points faster as well. As for Call of the Haunted, I looked at the wrong banned list. I guess I'll get rid of that, and add something else in, in its place.
Guest Black Fang
are u limited to the amount of packs u can buy? cause u really should get a few more dark cards from PTND.... and u can probbaly swap Soul exchange wit MOnster Reborn, Yes, monster reborn ISANT banned, u can have just 1. remove trap is = ugh... id rather use Twister or Tornado, and even Giant trunade, instead of Witch doctor u coud use D.D. Crow (i think he's dark, if hes not correct me) yea.. i dont mean to be rude or anything, i am only suggesting. ^^
CrabHelmet
I use the defender for its defence being 2700' date=' meaning that even some of the higher levels can't destroy it,[/quote'] Stats are no reason to use a card, especially when you're giving your opponent a free +1 every turn. Why do you think nobody uses Vanillas? Des koala is to get rid of their life points quicker' date='[/quote'] It's completely random and only belongs in Burn decks. and Dark Magician is' date=' and has always been, a good card in my opinion.[/quote'] He's just a Level 7 2500 ATK beatstick. There are 2-tribute monsters with far more ATK and useful effects. As for my spells and traps' date=' those are used to destroy their monsters and get rid of their cards, while some drop their life points faster as well.[/quote'] That's the thing. You've just got a bunch of spells and traps together. There's no goal. As for Call of the Haunted' date=' I looked at the wrong banned list. I guess I'll get rid of that, and add something else in, in its place.[/quote'] Hint: Monster Reborn is now legal. To proceed further, you'll need to understand something about the game: Life Points mean nothing. ATK means nothing. DEF means less than ATK does. Card Advantage and Win Condition are everything. Guest Black Fang
^ o.o wish i could have said it better id also Recommend maybe a pot of avarice... since u dont seem to be relying on RFG cards... and if u have a spirit reaper and or Tomato's id recommend useing them, since ur useing Winged minon, tomato would search it, and lets not forget Sangan. again id like to say, im just suggesting i would use 3 pitch-black warwolf, but thats just me. DMunkyOz
Alright, well I'll add Monster Reborn in. To answer your question Black Fang, I am somewhat limited. I need to get a job so that I can get more money, then I could buy more packs if I wanted. I did buy a few PTDN packs though, which is how I got Dark Horus and Rainbow Neos. (Even though I can't use the latter) Guess I need to ask my supplier for some more cards then. ^_^
Guest Black Fang
Very lucky, the best thing i got from that pack was Ultimate Nightmare. but we are th same, i am also limited to cards i can get from packs, infact i can only get cards as a b-day present, christmas, or by going to sneak previews. >.>
CrabHelmet
My last post exists. >_>
DMunkyOz
Sorry Crab, got pizza, skipped post. ^_^ Ok, back to it then. I know I'm giving my opponent an extra card, but I only keep it out on the field as long as I absolutly have to. I usually use it as tribute within a few turns. Once again, I will say that this is made of the cards my friends didn't want, so I was limited in what I could do with magic and traps. Anyway, I quit playng for about four or five years, and just recently got back in so I'm probably still thinking about the game from then when everything was different. CrabHelmet
Yeah, you need to think in terms of the modern game. Keeping Defender on the field for a few turns gives your opponent a +3. That's like turning the next three cards they draw into Pot of Greed. Do that, and your opponent has so much advantage that they're certain to win. DMunkyOz
Alright, well any suggestions on some cards to pull and replace? I can probably get my supplier to give me pretty much anything you say.
CrabHelmet
Well, you'll need to pick a win condition or more specific theme first. The current model is too vague for specific revisions; it needs more direction in general.
Guest Black Fang
Pull remove trap, Ballisita add somthin likeBook of moon, shrink, Enemy controller...
DMunkyOz
Alright, well what win conditions would you suggest? I have no idea what that means. ^_^ As for what you said Black Fang, I can add Book of moon now, but I'll have to talk to my friend to get the others.
Guest Black Fang
well, book of moon might be helpful for your deck, i think it would, im not sure what Crab means eitehr since im really dumb at this kinda stuff.... (Dumb)
CrabHelmet
Win Condition is how you intend to win the duel. With a random mix of cards like these, your "win condition" would look something like "do stuff and win somehow". Most decks have other win conditions; for example, Zombies and Dark World swarm the field to overpower the opponent, while DDT pulls off its little combo and attacks for game. Currently, the best DARK deck available - in fact, the best deck available - is probably Dark Armed Return, but Dark Armed Dragon is extremely expensive right now, which means that it's probably not the best choice if you're on any sort of budget; we're talking more than 700 U.S. Dollars for 3 DAD alone. Other DARK counterpart cards, particularly Dark Creator, have their own decks, but again cost might be a bit of an issue. As far as I know, Dark World isn't too expensive, so you might want to try that. I don't play in real life, though, so I don't know how much everything costs too well. Have a look at some other decks and see what sort of theme strikes your fancy.
DMunkyOz
Hmmm....Never thought of that. I really am a n00b at this now. Back when I was playing, and there was no banned list ^_^, I beat pretty much everyone in my area. Everyone's stratagy was "Draw good cards, and hope to win." Guest Black Fang
haha, nicei never make decks based off of themes anymore... i have one deck i wanted to bring back but i needed Giga plant,
CrabHelmet
Without a banlist, it's not "Draw good cards, and hope to win." It's "Flip a coin to see who goes first, and hope to go first."
Guest Black Fang
^ Crab is right, without a banlist there would be no skill invovled in the game...
