~NOiSE~
Anyone know of good anime that doesn't follow the normal anime trends?
Rodrigo
Shinsekai Yori, Panty & Stocking, Baccano/Kekkai Sensen/Cowboy Bebop
Trebuchet MS
Depends on what you call "normal". Haruhi is one of those series that doesn't exactly have a proper genre to categorize into, for example. It meshes up and deconstructs elements from so many other genres that you're wondering whether we could properly call it sci-fi, slice of life, rom-com, comedy, etc.
Fusion X. Denver
Literally, any anime shown on noitaminA. That's kind of their thing. AnoHana, Psycho Pass, Your Lie in April, Terror in Resonance, a bunch of other notable ones are in there. And are worth checking out.
Shradow
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Mushishi are two anime I've enjoyed that are pretty different from other series while being on completely different sides of the spectrum.

~NOiSE~
Well then, looks like I'll have to write all this down. I know some of these but not most.
Shradow
Casshern Sins is one that's pretty interesting. Though I'll warn you, it's the most depressing thing I've ever watched. And I don't mean it's a sad tearjerker in the way shows like Anohana and Clannad are.
Trebuchet MS
Yahari Ore no Seishun LoveCome wa Machigatteiru (aka My Teenage RomCom SNAFU) looks like another romance comedy on the surface but turns out to have some really interesting characters and modern social commentary. There's bound to be something or someone you can identify with.
Mr.Robot
Psycho pass, Samurai Champloo, Terror In Resonance, Kids on the Slope, rurouni kenshin anime(s) and maybe Honey and Clover. I know more unconventional manga than anime if you're interested.
Susie
Aku No Hana, for sure. unique animation with an odd psychological love story.

And I don't mean it's a sad tearjerker in the way shows like Anohana and Clannad are. Can confirm, tread carefully with this one. It will make you feel sad but it is amazingly done. Most of the obvious ones have already been said but I guess I'll mention Monogatari Series and The Tatami Galaxy.
Agro
Psycho Pass is literally written by a guy who hates the moe anime trends with a passion. But if you REALLY want a different series, try Kaiba or Ping-Pong the Animation.

Kaiba is amazing, youre only the second person who ive talked to that actually knows of that series its such a shame how underrated it is
