Flame Dragon
So, rare drafting during the largest GP in the world and having a bunch of pros come down on you for it will increase the value of a foil Goyf from $400 to over $10,000. Anyway, talk about the moneyest of money cards (at least where modern is involved).
Rodrigo
Who even is the person that has enough money to spend $10.000 on a single card that can be found for $400? I'll never understand this. I bet some of the richest oil owners from middle east collect MtG instead of famous paintings.
Resident Fascist
It's literally ridiculous that a card like this costs $400 anyway. No card should cost that much in a playable format. Magic is not very welcoming to new players at all, with them expected to drop ridiculous amounts of money on cards if they want to play anything decent. (GigaDrillBreaker)
Honestly, it should be banned in modern. It simply warps the format too much for its own good. Unfortunately, with the recent reprint, I can't see it happening soon.

Players have been entering Modern more and more come every new modern season, and the numbers have only been increasing. I don't see how a card that costs so much to make a player not enter the format except in theory since statistics show otherwise. Yes, I agree that this card should cost like 70 at most, because I want 4 of my own and am pissed off that I haven't been able to play Junk, BGx, or Jund at a competitive level, but Modern is still only blooming come each turn and event. Honestly, it should be banned in modern. It simply warps the format too much for its own good. Unfortunately, with the recent reprint, I can't see it happening soon. Yeah, that is never going to happen. And cards need to warp the format, but not kick archetypes out of the format. Tarmogoyf is such a card that doesn't kick archetypes out of the format. It is needed in Modern, and it will always stay because of this.
Flame Dragon
Its funny that the whole reason this thing went from expensive to stupid expensive is because of the reprints in MM causing a huge spike in demand for the card. Honestly, it should be banned in modern. It simply warps the format too much for its own good. Unfortunately, with the recent reprint, I can't see it happening soon. I feel Lightning Bolt is far more warping and I don't think thats going anywhere, so yea..... WotC has pretty clean guidelines for banning stuff and Goyf just doesn't meet it. .Rai
holy shit it's actually at $12,000 nowGlad that Pascal has come out of it all well, and also that it's being split to charity as well.I agree that it's just silly that it costs so much (not this particular one, total exception, but $400 for a standard foil Goyf). I'm not sure what to do to solve the situation, but I think printing Tarmogoyf at rare in MM15 would have done something at least.Edit: Oh, and I'd agree with Dae about its effect on Modern. Magic remains the TCG that has had the largest growing playerbase in the current market (excepting Hearthstone, I guess), and the price of Tarmogoyf isn't scaring off Modern players. While it should have been rare WotC is VERY afraid of having a Chronicles repeat and crashing the secondary market value. Also, at rare it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to find any product since even if the price tanked way more people would have been buying by the set by the case full. Poc
Its a STAMPED goyf, clearly that justifies the 10k+ price tag. /s Honestly, it should be banned in modern. It simply warps the format too much for its own good. Unfortunately, with the recent reprint, I can't see it happening soon. Goyf is not as good in modern as he use to be. Hes a fair creature that dodges lightning bolt but there are tons of other two drops that can be more format warping than him. Voice and ooze are becoming more and more relevant as modern shifts into a snapcaster and lingering soul dominated format.

Sixty
Someone a few seats down from me pulled a foil goyf when I went to the release draft. That was pretty cool.
Spinny
My sisters friend got a Foil one of these in Modern Masters. Flipping heck this thing is good tho.
CLG Klavier
More like Tarmoverhyped. Clearly you guys never played modern. Goyf doesn't appear in every single deck with green, nor does he actually push anything out ot the format. It's really strong, but it's an alright card to stay. Now you can stop circlejerking how Goyf being so expensive ruins Modern because that never was, isn't, and never will be the case.
