There are a limited number of “slots” available for characters. Each slot has a few details associated with it, and applicants will essentially be “auditioning.” When you’re making your application, let me know for which slot you’re applying. I’ll choose the app I think works the best for each slot. ii. I'm not taking reserves. If you want a slot but are too slow to apply, too bad. iii. I reserve the right to deny any application for any reason. iv. There's no posting cycle or anything like that: just let two people post before you go again. If you go four or more days without posting, you'll get a warning from me. Two warnings = you're out of the RP. v. At least 100 words per post, no script format, no c/p-ing characters. I wrote those rules, guys. Don't disappoint me. vi. Maximum of two characters per player. Setting location a Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Consequat non enim quis varius. LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Well I figured I'd give some thoughts on this. One, dammit why must everything be fancy? XD Making me feel inadequate ya jerk. On a more serious note. It's slightly frustrating trying to read. Grey on grey plus smallish font means a pain for my eyes. But that could just be because I have terrible eyesight. I might end up passing up an RP that uses this because of that. Hard to read OOC does not get me interested. And honestly it's kinda...dull for how much work it probably takes. But that's just my opinion, obviously there are those who like it.
Aix
I actually really like the style of this. Conveys its somber mood quite well. Do you know how to make spoilers, and if you do (which I assume so since you can make those hover spoiler things :O), have you been able to get them to work on YCM? I've tried copy-pasting codes for spoilers, but they don't seem to work. I dunno if it's because I need to adjust something somewhere to make it work on YCM. Spoilers would be much preferable since you'd have to scroll past this whole thing. (Of course, you could make an anchor to the bottom of the post, but spoilers are still better) This has been pretty educational for a newbie at CSS like me since I can actually look at the code =w= *silently plots to out-fancy Rinne*
EHN.
This looks pretty good, CSS wise at least. I personally would have opted to use JS to make the drop downs a bit nicer, but that's just me nitpicking.

I tend to use neutral palettes when designing as to leave things "open," but yeah, on second pass-through the text is hard to read. I'll probably darken the main font color to up the contrast. But what exactly do you mean by "dull," though? )': I actually really like the style of this. Conveys its somber mood quite well. I'm actually crap at Java/JQuery, so I try to avoid using it for anything that I can imitate with CSS selectors. P:
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
When I say dull I mostly mean that there isn't really much to look at for how fancy it seems to be at first. It's not a terrible thing but nothing really catches my eye about it. It's neat but I don't see a reason to use it. Of course everyone in RP is apparently 2fancy4me so. This will be the way I work on styling stuff on here in the future :T
EHN.
I used to also only use CSS but then I learnt everything becomes so much easier with JS/jQ. There's quite a bit to learn but you generally pick it up quickly if you practice a fair amount And yeah, generally avoid inline styling whenever possible. Using selectors is much cleaner and saves a lot of time and effort (as demonstrated in the OP).

I know a bit of jQuery already, but whereas CSS came from my forum skinning hobby, jQuery would require me to sit down and actually study. Plus, I don't wanna fuck up and mess up the site's layout as a whole. xD EDIT: Fiddled around some more at work today. Added a clickable application field, removed those nasty float styles, and added multi-tier <ul> lists.

I just got used to having to use inline only from another forum which didn't give this much freedom (which inevitably creates illegible and difficult-to-maintain code, though the latter isn't as pronounced since forum posts are typically one-shot, comparatively simple affairs) ... I've worked with CSS outside forum posts too, and using selectors, in addition to being neater, is also way more useful.JS is super great for fun stuff \o/
