Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation

Recommended Posts

What started out as a concept so cheesy you could put it on a burger, a taco or a pizza, has burst into so much popularity you can't help but laugh. But don't take my word for it:

Yep, it's another one of those "Video Game Series that gets turned into an Anime" things, in this case, it's an anime based on the Hyperdimension Neptunia video game franchise called Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation. If any of you have played the games, you should remember Neptune's bad habit of demolishing the fourth wall, Blanc's quiet yet universe ending anger when provoked, or even or even Noire's tendency to act all tsundere, fans are elated to see this series finally dubbed. And if you think this'll be like Sailor Moon, well, Funimation has a kind of habit of reuniting voice casts from past anime, like they did for Slayers Revolution or BlazBlue (With the exception of Platinum the Trinity), and what did Funimation do, reunite a majority of the main Neptunia English voice cast. The only characters that have different voice actors are IF, Peashy, Rei Ryghts, CFW Trick and 5pb. Other than that, the cast is reunited for this. I'm mostly looking forward to the OVA but that's me. Anyway, tell me what you think? And please support the Goddesses. Your faith gives them strength.

Hmm, well, around the time this was airing was when I switched from using VLC to MPC to watch anime. Or rather, comparing screenshots of Purple Heart in a dress in episode 1 with different video players was the first thing I did.

Never finished the anime though, wasn't really that into it.

It was okay the first time I watched it, but at that time I knew nothing about the games and only really started playing them in the last couple of months with Re;Birth 1. Now I just watch it if I'm bored and have nothing else to watch, but will usually go for things like Haiyore! Nyaruko-san and such. The dub was okay until Compa was introduced, I can't stand her English voice as it doesn't sound right. Not much else to say other than the fact there is a lot of fan service in the anime.

Before going into the anime, Try the games. With the exception of the first one, all of them are available on the PSN Store.

Compa is voiced by Cristina Vee, she does a great Shantae and Sailor Mars. But the high pitched squeelie voice can be irritating. I can tolerate it though. I'm disappointed in the fact that Kate Higgins, Julie Ann Taylor, Derek Stephen Prince and Sandy Fox are not repriesing their roles.

And the plot is good too and there are funny bits. For example:
