Communication

Recommended Posts

Most of the time, I just email people (namely my college advisor, college professors and some of my classmates for team projects).

I have a Facebook, but rarely talk to people on it (save for some guys on a Pokemon game, and people from martial arts club who I've known for quite a while).

A lot of you know I have a Skype, but I don't go on it often because everytime I do, I have to wait for the DP log to clear out (and that's about 2-4k messages).

TBH, once Nai got added; things started to slow down on my Skype thing. [I add him, and then it implies access to the DP room].

Phone calls are generally reserved for parents and relatives on the mainland nowadays; and some appointment things.

So yeah, I don't miss talking on the phone.

And honestly, the longest I'm even on said phone is about 2-3 minutes (and usually with relative from East Coast).

I mainly use Skype for everything now. But that's also because a lot of my friends are on Skype, as well. Before Skype, though, I used to PM on forums. When there was work-related stuff preventing people from logging on to Skype, the forum PM would be a good alternative. As far as phone calls and texting, I only have a couple of IRL friends and only a couple of people that got my phone number from Skype, so there's that.

E-Mail, pssh, I only check that like once every month~

I suck at getting back to people with email and texting. I see that they messaged me and think, "I'll respond to them later."

Except I don't.

Or at least, not until later than I should have. It's also a big problem because I do that to literally everyone.

As for IRL communication, I've heard I have a talent for engaging people. I'm pretty good about eye contact and listening too, so people who like to talk like talking to me.

Man, I do this all the time as well.

I must say my favourite form of communication is probably still face to face. I really really don't like phone calls to the point where I normally just ignore calls and reply with "text me". Various forms of internet communication, mainly Skype, Facebook and Showdown PMs are like, ok, but I still don't think there's a substitute for face-to-face communication.

The short answer I don't. I have Skype but never really use it, I only have family on my mobile and only text in reply to questions or need something, I only use e-mail for school work and for getting info from sites. I only really communicate on here and one chat room which doesn't want to load for ages so I'm not really on it.

IRL I don't really start up conversations outside of family, last time was almost 5 years ago so. In conversations I can easily communicate if the topic interests me, small talk I don't do. Long talks or debates about games probably, though overall I am more likely to sit and wait for someone to talk to me, then try to keep it as long as my interest allows.
