Aix
What would your ideal anime be? Just would be fun to think about. Mine would probably be a fantasy in a very colorful and beautiful world with incredible architecture and scenery resulting in scenery porn that would put Makoto Shinkai to utter shame. The worldbuilding would be detailed and unique enough that I'd actually be interested in learning more. It would be extremely long so that I will never run out of episodes, and would have very well-developed arcs that slowly unfold to feature events of an epic scale in various locales, such as massive wars, and cataclysms. The focus, however, will be on one person or group caught up in it all, as I'm not actually a fan of Baccano! or GoT style storytelling. Although the plot is an important part, I actually greatly enjoy characters getting the focus. There would be a lot of tear-jerking or otherwise extremely intense moments that actually make me feel engaged in it and actually forget myself in it. Lastly, there'd be a lot of moral and philosophical themes because I'm a pretentious fuck and I like to think about these things. 9001/10, the magnum opus of mankind. Thar
I want something like Mirai Nikki, just without the whole competition thing. Basically just about a psychotic girlfriend with the main character being a stud instead of a dweeb.
Tentacruel
It'd be a fantasy shounen series with... Actually, just what Aix said but without heavy philosophical themes.
Nicο
This sucks, random killing offs of posts. I never get nearly this much problems typing like a freaking sloth. Mostly I damn well already have a few that fit my ideal. Realistic setting but actual realism minimal or at least not excruciatingly boring, absolutely must have standard anime exaggeration, but not too terribly over the top. Supernatural aspects cannot be extreme or terribly non-justified. No action, no mechs, no psychos, no hentai. Think nothing is more important to my ideal than the episode length though. No single season can be more than standard 1-2 cour, and if there's anything that does all that and still goes over 50 episodes, it would probably try my patience. Hexanort
mine would be a slife of life that revolves around life on a peaceful world that is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy, which each episode just characters ordinary life with mech and mystical creatures roaming around in the scenery....not very heavy comedy, no conflict, no twist, no fanservice....aria series is the closest one, just need more depth to sci-fi and fantasy setting and especially, not one season...... which is definitely not enough for SoL

But I'm not entirely sure lightdiversion meant specifically Aria when talking about that length there.
Aix
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKK. Why did I not know about this until now? Oh, an addition to my ideal anime thing, it would also take place over several eras, maybe the MC is an elf or some other sort of immortal, because that would be cool. Just seeing how the world changes is one of the reasons why I look forwards to the future.

Maeriberii Haan
pretty much what Aix said, since a story that I really like is pretty much that.
Fusion X. Denver
My ideal anime would probably be a shonen set in modern-day, but in an AU with sci-fi, fantasy and supernatural events happening. Or the far future, whichever. Locations would be varied from sky cities, lush forest villages, maybe even throw in space colonization so we can see different planets and stuff. I'd either want the DRRR approach where we'd oversee a bunch of characters throughout the plot, or a main character who starts off weak and lame, but grows through the show to become awesome and earn our affection and respect. I think I'd like a good mix of fights that are strategic and thought-out and then fights that are straightforward and epic in scale, all about beating the shit out of the other. For good measure, it should be a show where anyone could die, though I'd probably prefer that for the first method of storytelling since I wouldn't want the main dying, or at least not until the series' end. But most importantly, I'd want it to have heart.

That one's always been on my backlog since it caught my interest, but the constant hiatuses made me think I should just wait for it to finish first. Regardless, it's a great anime overall.
D.A._Sakuyamon
A full length "Battle Angel Alita"/"Gunnm" anime that actually told the whole story(except for the retconned ending) and not just two volumes worth which then gets condensed down to 50mins total of air time..... Johan Liebert
I'm a sucker for fairly dark and psychological things. I like thriller elements, and occasional science fiction elements mixed in as well. Oh. And numerous complex characters and a great English dubbing cast.
