Kinda feel like Crystal bones is inferior to Gordian in this build, it can go into instant R3 with skull and it, but that's only if you go 2nd.

Also, you cant Skull > Bones in the same turn anyway, which is just awkward as that would appear to be the main combo you should be able to do with it, but it isnt even possible.

Gordian goes into 3's 4's and 5's (with Golden Jet).

So it's usability doesnt decline during the game generally either as it can mold into what level you want most of the time in comparison with Bones' summon restriction and level.

It's marginally harder to go for the standard OTK / "I'm gonna hit you really hard real quick and then have an absurdly strong monster out if that's ok with you" combo with Gordian though.  I say find a medium.  Just running one or the other isn't great in any sense.
