The Warden
When I said "What are the funking odds", I meant on combos refusing to happen so I wouldn't win. It's rhetorical because this game likes to be a complete jabroni sometimes, especially when valuable items like RMLs are on the board.
evilfusion
Okay, so I actually got Greninja's Mind Zap skill to Level 5, making it the first skill I've ever done this for, and definitely the first one without using ANY Skill Booster enhancements (for the record, Mind Zap requires 100 Skill Points to fully max out, and requires 60 to get it from Level 4 to Level 5). I do not really recommend doing this, as the 300 coin cost per attempt can really add up, and still net you nothing, since each PSB has only a 25% drop rate. On the side, I've done some random Safari rounds, even after finishing things, just to get a couple of Exp Boosters. I've gotten 3 Exp Booster Ls, which have a drop rate similar to Greninja dropping an RML (less than 2%), and I've encountered Phione twice. So...what is with me and having weird 2% odds luck, but yet Mesprit has yet to have given me an RML at a 12.5% chance?!
The Warden
25% drop rate? No wonder I only seemed to get a PSB once every 4 matches with him; although my fifth got me a RML so....
evilfusion
25% drop rate? No wonder I only seemed to get a PSB once every 4 matches with him; although my fifth got me a RML so.... Yeah. I figured out how drop rates work (by looking it up). There are three drop opportunities, one at 75% HP, 50% HP, and 25% HP. Every item on the drop table is assigned randomly to one of those three points. So in any theoretical Greninja game, there is one possible RML roll (like 1.56% drop rate), and 2 individual PSB rolls (25% each). At the assigned threshold, it does the roll, and if successful, the item drops. And in Safari games, there's one roll each for an Exp S, Exp M, and Exp L. You'll never get 2 of the same drop, but S has like...a 25% drop rate, and M and L both have less than 2%, which is weird, because I've gotten like 4 L and 1 M in my Safari ventures. The Warden
But I have gotten 2 Smalls in the same board before though. But that makes a lot of sense actually, when I recall the likes of Amorous Pikachu. And Eevee too actually. Speaking of, what is Eevee's drop rate anyways? But that makes a lot of sense actually, when I recall the likes of Amorous Pikachu. And Eevee too actually. Speaking of, what is Eevee's drop rate anyways? Are you sure it isn't an S and an M? Because Ms are also in "common" boxes, despite the stupidly low drop rate. Eevee's drop rates is 100%, 25%, and 12.5% (all Skill Booster Ms). You will ALWAYS get at least 1 drop from Eevee, with a max of 3.
The Warden
I'm pretty sure it was 2 S's. Also, Eevee makes sense, since I typically always just get the one SB M, save for my last try where I got 2 instead.
evilfusion
*slightly horrified expression* Mesprit dropped an RML. And I failed to beat the stage by the tiniest sliver of health. ...I mean, I paid the Jewel, because I value RMLs way too much, and this is literally the last shot I had at getting an RML drop (Mesprit's event period is over after today), but sheesh. Also, Mesprit is now SL3 thanks to the PSB drops. I'm currently sitting on 3 RMLs thanks to this and Greninja (and I gave my earlier RMLs to Angry-chu, bumping him up to 5/10. I'm waiting to see whether next update is giving us something that needs RML buffs for the competition.
The Warden
Okay guys, big word of warning in that the Lugia-Pikachu is a TIMED mission, not moves. I fell into the trap myself, but managed a swift win. So be careful.
Flame Dragon
So returning escalation battle, new contest, and 2 once a day challenges plus a handful of returns for grinding. Nice to know I can focus on the safari since I'll need the stupid Manaphy for the contest.
The Warden
Considering how "subtle" they were in mentioning that W-Manaphy could receive 5 RMLs, I was outright expecting it to be needed for the next mega comp. Also, my second go at Chesnaught got me a RML. Lucky lucky.
evilfusion
I caught both the special 'chus, one at 20%, the other with a Great Ball. Yay! I also figured Winking Manaphy would be needed, which is why I saved those RMLs. Winking Manaphy is already pretty good, so no objection for me. Ugh...Giratina-O Escalation is timed, and the best rewards (Speedups, RMLs) aren't until like...Stage 130 and higher. Yeah...I'm probably not going to bother much. Timed battles are needlessly stressful.
The Warden
The first Speedup is stage 70, then 100. Also, today I got my first RML from Lugiachu, literally the day after I caught it, which is nice. I used it and the RML I got from Chesnaught to max out my Mewtwo. Also, do you guys think there's merit to using a Skill Swapper to change Abomasnow's ability to Mind Zap?

Will probably tackle the Escalation Battle a bit more later. I'm coin grinding because I spent everything on a run of the M-Competition. At last check, I was in the top tier (like...place 86) with just short of 70k, or something. Only the top 200 for me is 5x of each. I...don't think I'm going to get better than that, unless I get amazing RNG and 3 RML for M-Gyarados. Um...I don't personally use Abomasnow. I actually don't really ever use Mind Zap, either. Which is why I was baffled when Mind Zap got nerfed (it no longer activates if the Pokemon is affected by DD or any status condition) and people were mad about it. The combo of sleep charm and mind zap was super powerful when maxed out. Though I've found Chill from Glalie gets a lot of the work done since a lot of disruptions counters aren't that long and Abomasnow isn't very good. Yeah...the irony is, shortly after it was nerfed, I got Greninja to SL5. He has Mind Zap.
The Warden
Hey, do you guys think it's in poor taste that the game is more likely to make escalation battles chuck a tantrum when you've used your last main heart when there's more than 10 minutes left on your new one just to provoke you to buy more hearts to take advantage of it? Cuz I sure do.

Cuz I sure do. I DO think they do this on purpose to some degree, but considering that it's very common for someone to have "extra" hearts, either from Streetpass, or having bought some, or earning some/receiving some (like Amorous Pikachu), it doesn't bother me that much. Of course...I'm assuming you don't actually SPEND your extra hearts haphazardly. I usually only use them on Escalation Battle tantrums, or when I really want to try a stage again without waiting. Otherwise, I usually only spend my time-given hearts.
The Warden
I try not too, though I burned my Amorous hearts progressing the game to get to Hoopa-U.
Flame Dragon
Lugia Pikachu HATES me. I've used Great Balls on it 4 times over 50% and they keep failing. I'd be out 10000 coins if it wasn't for the home trick. Seriously, what in the hell.
The Warden
Wow, seriously? It's pretty funking sheet that you haven't caught the little turd yet.
evilfusion
Lugia Pikachu hates me, too, but for a different reason. Ho-oh Pikachu has dropped 2 Exp Ls in the 3 days I could get drops from him.Lugia Pikachu's rare drop is an RML, with the exact same drop rate of Ho-oh's Exp L. Nope, none of those for me. :(
The Warden
Oh, Ho-oh is Exp L only huh? That makes me feel better, since I thought I got duped out of a RML. Either way then, I've managed to get one drop from both of them currently.
