Flame Dragon
Yea, I just don't like Mega T-Tar (plus mine isn't candied) so I wouldn't get much out of using it. I'm only in the 1x tier for Speedup and RML with my very low score of 45000. Maybe I should invest in T-Tar after all....
The Warden
I'm saving my candies for when I get T-Tar, but I'm also spending some on Beedril. Mine is now 8/12.
evilfusion
I'm not too fond of Mega T-tar either, because it's got such a steep learning curve on how to use it effectively, but by this point, I've recognized that it is possibly one of the most powerful Mega effects, and Rock is an excellent damage type. This is probably the only time it was pretty much "required" to have it, though. Other times, it's just very very useful. I finished in place 68. My T-tar is now 13/15 Candies. As for new content...Winking Totodile, Wailord, and the Safari with the shiny Magikarp/Gyarados is back, with a winking Snorunt and Winking Glalie included. Presumably, the Glalie will have a Mega, same as the special Sableye and Gengar and such. My money's on the bet that it'll be a "replace 3" Mega for Ice. M-Houndoom's Mega ability is a Fire version of Diancie. That's...reasonably good, actually. EDIT: Looked it up. M-Winking Glalie looks like it's going to be a M-Steelix (hits blocks for damage). But uh...it also looks like it can take TWENTY Mega Speedups. WTF?!
The Warden
I checked the reddit. Winking M-Glalie requires 29 icons to activate, so with max candies that's 9. Also, have fun with Wailord, since he has about 48000 HP.

Solid, but I imagine Resh does enough work vs. barriers that you won't really need it since Blaziken is VERY good. Thats a solid ability and I like it a fair bit more than the normal one. That is WAY too many speedups though. The ability is good, but both Beedrill and T-Tar want the speedups a ton more. I checked the reddit. Winking M-Glalie requires 29 icons to activate, so with max candies that's 9. Also, have fun with Wailord, since he has about 48000 HP. I got super lucky with Sleep Charm triggers thanks to it being level 4 and even then only finished with 11 moves. Decided to just use the great ball since I can totally see the stage being a pain. The Warden
I used an attack up and ended with 16 or so moves left. Even at a 46% chance I needed that Great Ball, but I got a Super Catch Chance, so it was guaranteed. Also, the post M-Scizor missions are total sell-outs. I mean, doing the likes of Squirtle and Phanpy again is just plain disgusting.
evilfusion
It's a good ability, as Steelix itself has demonstrated, but it's stupidly costly. The other Megas that required that many Speedups were M-Ray (who is godly good), and T-Tar at 15, who is...also godly good. I just feel that a base 60 Ice just...doesn't have the same niche. Steelix is amazing, but held back by Steel only being good against Ice, Rock, and Fairy. Ice is good against Grass, Flying, and Dragon...but Dragon doesn't really need more checks for it and is fairly rare to see in the first place, and Aerodactyl hits Flying already, even if its damage per block/rock is less than Steelix/Glalie. I don't want to just dismiss its potential off the bat, but for 20 Speedups...it NEEDS to be phenomenal to justify using it, and if it takes so long to M-Evolve without the Speedups, it's usually outclassed by the other 2 dozen Megas. Like, I see it more feasible to use Steelix for neutral damage than to pump 20 Speedups into Glalie.

Okay, that actually...helps a little bit, depending on what its final power would be. That would mean it's a Steelix that's STRONGER than Steelix by a potentially significant amount. Stupid amount of investment, but hmm...

Yea, no idea why it costs 20 to speed up.
evilfusion
Yeah...I just caught W-Glalie. Super mediocre. Done with the Safari now.
The Warden
Are the Winkers really rare? I haven't even seen Glalie yet, and Snorunt only once. I've even seen S-Magikarp already.

The Snorunt, not so much, probably as rare as the other "commons", but they're still plucking it from a pool of like 6 or 7. S-Magikarp I found twice before finding Glalie. Didn't run into S-Gyarados at all. Ran into everything else at least once, with the maybe exception of Cloyster, but I don't remember. But the Safari as a whole only took me like 25 hearts. The Warden
I wanna say right now, that these winking bastards are SO not worth the funking effort of hunting after. I mean, for funk's sake, if you're going to add mons that share little to no weaknesses with the rest of the safari (in this case rock only because of the pigeons), don't make them have a low funking catch chance. Just, just don't.
Flame Dragon
I just failed to catch Snorunt with a 95%. I have no words. At least I'm done with the Safari.
The Warden
I'm pissed off because I spent 10k trying to catch Glalie at 30%, and the game wouldn't cut me some funking slack. It's jewed me over more times than it's cut me some slack, and the game funking OWES me at this point. Doesn't help that I haven't seen that winking jabroni for some time now, even though he's not even funking worth having anyways. EDIT: And lo and fckign behold, the very next battle was with him, and I catch him on 24%. Go figure.

As an FYI if he runs away after you throw great balls you can hit the home button and the money spent won't be lost. I got SUPER lucky and caught him first try at 24%. The Warden
I'm against cheating like that, also I forgot it was a thing.
Flame Dragon
I'm against cheating like that, also I forgot it was a thing. Thats fair. Personally I'm fine with it because probability if a jabroni (see missing on a 95%) but I can get not liking it. Also forgetting. It isn't a super known exploit. The Warden
I've honestly never really failed that many Great Balls, so the memory did kind of leak away since with all the stuff we have now failing often is less of a thing tbh. The Warden
Man, I'm really getting tired of this game repeatedly attempting to murder my in-game wallet. We just HAD a flipping Escalation battle, and now not only do we have another one, we also have a mega battle to boot. Can't they give us a damn break to recover? Flame Dragon
At least all the other content this week is repeat stuff. You don't need to do the competition until Sunday and you have 2 weeks for Latias. Not that bad imo.
evilfusion
I'm actually probably going all the way to 200 for this Escalation Battle. I'm up to like stage 170, I do want those extra RMLs, and my understanding is that 200 is doable with a full item run (expensive, but I do have the gold for it). And I did one M-Gyarados run, felt I did terribly (nothing really seemed to combo or activate abilities much), but it was still good enough for Tier 2. Probably won't last, but it means I'm still likely to get some good stuff even if Latias bankrupts me a bit.
The Warden
I've been grinding cash instead of doing Latias, since the existence of both her and M-Gyarados are making desperate bids to bankrupt my wallet.
evilfusion
*pant pant* Reached...196. Ooh, finally Angry Latias. Been waiting for one for like 10 levels now. Hmm... +3. So if I beat this, I'll be right at 200. Lovely. Also, the last 15 stages is when things start getting hard. Not difficult, like tons of disruptions, more in the line of "every stage has about 28000 HP". I've lost a few times, just barely, because of that. *considers* Yeah...definitely using Moves +5. And good thing I did. That stage had about 37000 HP. Won with 0 moves remaining. EDIT: Damn. Had to use a Jewel to finish off stage 200. But it's over now. Worth it.
