Flame Dragon
I now understand what Pchi was complaining about. The Wigglytuff stage is super obnoxious. Like I really hate it obnoxious. Like, I was able to S rank it without anything but I've also failed it multiple times since obnoxious. Plus the stupid thing is a pain to catch. What the hell. At least its number 299 and I already have the S rank.... Anyway Kyurem sounds cool. Will start on that once I beat stage 300. Just need to catch Wigglytuff. Stupid thing..... Will try for the Mega Speedup if I still have a decent amount of gold left after clearing the expert stages. 300: Break the bank and use everything. That might not even be enough. Feel like you need to use him to actually get the S rank. Which sucks since I now need to level grind him a bit. I guess I can hold off on the last S rank and get Kyurem and clear the expert stages. evilfusion
Oh yay...something else to steal all my hearts. EDIT: Hooray, progress! I caught Kyurem at 8%, and I'm not really that needy for the rewards offered. I wouldn't mind more Speedups, but it looks like we don't get anything until Stage 30, and it just doesn't seem worthwhile. So I went to coin grinding instead to begin patching up what I haven't done yet. Used a near full-set of items (including Complexity) to S Rank 260, and I still nearly botched that with bad luck, but that's out of the way. Shouldn't be too bad from here out. The Warden
Christ, how much funking health does the level 100 stage Kyurem even have? I'm bombing it with M-Blaziken and I can only take that funk down to 1/5th health before the 50s are up, AND THAT'S WITH AN ATTACK UP!
Flame Dragon
I'm not a big fan of the Hoenn megas for time attack. Might be me, but I feel randomly having something change when your constantly hurrying to make matches felt like it would make it too annoying. Though I honestly have no idea what mega you should use since I stopped at 50. Wanted to get back on the money grind to S rank 300 and catch Z. Which I did. 300 is MUCH easier after you get the mega stone. Z's stage is very beatable without items, but your going to have next to no % so disruption delay might be helpful. I just waiting for a Super Catch and got it with that. Anyway, back to having everything done and will resume money grinding.
The Warden
I swapped to M-Lucario and used the items the stage gave me. I won thanks to the 10 extra seconds it gave me as the first reward. I was using M-Blaziken as this was a Pyre team, and the explosiveness of M-Blaziken can be devastating at times. I enjoyed how the two items you get leading up to 50 are only good in a narrow group of stages. Just used those for 50. It is nice that you can go for 50 and 100 without actually spending gold. That makes sense. The Hoenn starters can really explode, but I'm more comfortable with it in normal stages and not timed ones. This came up twice since Mamo is another timed stage and I passed on using Blaze there too. Though I honestly think Lucario is better there anyway. The Warden
Lucario in general is a much better Mega than most other mons.
Flame Dragon
Lucario in general is a much better Mega than most other mons. He really is one of the best. I'd say the others that are REALLY good are Heracross, Blaziken, Swampert, Gengar, Aerodactyl, Mewtwo, and 300. Banette and Slowbro have the issue of having more powerful and similarly powerful Megas with there type which keeps them from being as good imo. The Warden
Gengar truly is an amazing Mega.

evilfusion
Caught Sky Shaymin, managed to beat Reshi, but had used my Great Ball coins for Sky Shaymin, so...yeah. Reshi seems to have Barrier Bash+, which is awesome.
evilfusion
In other news, Reshi legitimately hated me. I could beat him without items, but his catch rate was too low, even with Great Ball chance. So I grinded more coins to have enough for Attack Power Up, and a Great Ball. I used the Attack Power Up, crushed him nicely with about 15 moves to spare, had a catch rate of like 33. Didn't succeed, Great Ball doubles this chance, and Super Capture activates, boosting the rate to 94%. Which failed. HOW DO YOU FAIL TO CAPTURE WITH 94%?! Obviously, I exited so it wouldn't save my Great Ball expense, but it still meant I wasted 3000 coins for the stage. I legitimately threw a Jewel at the game (the one I got from the M-Sharpedo competition, which I only entered to grab the Jewel) to give me my 3000 coins back so I could try again without needing to grind more coins. I then caught it without needing the Great Ball at all, but STILL.
The Warden
I think I just spent my wad on items, and had like, a 24% chance to catch him. Got him first win, which was nice. I got Skymin on a 13% chance as well.
Flame Dragon
I just beat him and had a super chance trigger right away. I figured 33% is going to be the best I can do without spending gold so I went for it and got super lucky. And remember, the odds of failing at 94% are the same as catching at 6%. I like to think that makes me feel better when my luck craps out at times like that.
Flame Dragon
Finally found the actual rates pokemon Mega Evolve at https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonShuffle/comments/429ocl/mega_speedup_table_updated/ I had assumed that maxing the Speed Ups would more or less equalize the time to Mega, but that looks REALLY far from reality. evilfusion
Okay, so I've been gradually making a lot of progress with captures and S Ranks that I missed. Some stages were more frustrating than others (looking at you, Mandibuzz, and Florges capturing), but of the remaining stages I need, I've gotten CLOSE, but missed it very slightly, so not too worried about them yet. I've captured and S Ranked everything up to 289 (have 293 S Ranks total) Still need to S Rank 290, but got very close. Still need to capture Jigglypuff Still need to S Rank Piloswine Still need to capture AND S Rank Dodrio (this will be a pain, I know it). Still need to S Rank Pory2. Still need to capture AND S Rank Wigglytuff Still need to BEAT 300, S Rank I can only imagine how hard that will be. Still need to capture the newest Expert Stages, obviously including the one that needs 300 S Ranks to unlock.
Flame Dragon
My recommendations for those S ranks. 290: Disruption delay and +5 moves. Piloswine: With a little luck can S rank without anything. Dodrio: Mega Start and +5 moves seems like the safest way to S rank. Porygon2: +5 moves should be enough. Wigglytuff: disruption delay and +5 moves 300: You need to first beat the stage before going for the S rank. That honestly might take using everything. After that use him against himself and you'll have a pretty easy time so long as you use everything.
evilfusion
Ouch. 300 is gonna be COSTLY, then.
Flame Dragon
Yea. My first time beating it I used everything and wasn't even close to the S rank. But once I had the Mega, it was a lot easier. I ended up using Xern and Kyu and Latios. I like when I have an ability that removes of icons to have 2 choices. Plus it made the Latios combos come easier. The one blessing was that the 40 stages REALLY weren't that costly to S rank. That can not be said of most of the 10 batches we had been getting. Also, speaking of money, I've gotten VERY good at grinding for coins since I'm back over 90K. Feel like this going to become to norm. Not that I mind since having coins for when I need them is nice. Pchi
BTW, which teams do you usually use to grind for coins? At which levels they are?Normally I favour mon whose abilities won't work at the stage so that they won't get in the way of my operations, and often I'll include a Machamp to guarantee I won't lose the round. Flame Dragon
I grind for coins while level grinding so the team always changes. Only thing I don't use are Fighting types and pokemon that can destroy the coins. The most important thing to remember is that you have 1160 points of damage to work with so just make sure you'll be able to cash in the coins before you hit that number. Also, don't be afraid to settle for 300 if it looks like you need to go for more damage.
evilfusion
I always shoot for 300. Occasionally, I'll see that 500 is possible and go for that, but I aim for 300, because going for 500 usually screws me over more often than not.
The Warden
I always bring a fighting type with me, since the stage is flippant, and you won't always deal enough damage. And if a mass combo happens before you line the coins, you'll still win regardless of there being a fighting type or not.
Flame Dragon
I've found it pretty easy to both get the set up for 500 and to be able to close out the stage. I have times when I fail, but I'm certain the fail rate would be much higher if I used a fighting type. Though part of that might be because I go for the 500 meaning I need every move and a fighting type can easily end up doing 1/4 the damage and I wouldn't be able to avoid it over those 8 moves. The Warden
The new update is here, and we have the chance for 2 different Mega Stones. Mega-Abomasnow is currently contested, and there's the Diancie Escalation battle, with the Diancite available for beating level 50. There's also a jewel on offer for beating level 100. Note, M-Aboma's disruption is barriers (how unusual, amirite?), and Doublade are also in the field, so Complexity -1 isn't that vital.
