Mugendramon
Mostly yugioh but anyone feel free to enlighten me. Is using distracting sleeves (like for instance a hot chick) a common stunt players use? Would it be effective at all as a distraction? Are the sleeves you use regulated in some way? CLG Klavier
Big part of my MTG locals rocked sleeves with half-naked anime girls, so I assume not =P Though maybe if you were against someone inexperienced. Plus you know, there's still matter of good taste.
Mugendramon
I just remembered someone point out that in top events the skill gap is so minimal that any small edge can make a difference. Like, say, a pair of boobies taking your mind off the board long enough to overlook something.
Rodrigo
I don't think you'd have a problem as long as it's still "safe for work" (i.e. no nudity).
Mugendramon
This isn't me about to do that. I just saw some custom sleeves on DN and it got me wondering.
ihop
The trouble with distracting sleeves is that they are always shit quality and will start to show obvious signs of wear before long. Major tournaments are obviously looking out for that sort of stuff and, while afaik I don't think having distracting sleeves is against the rules it's probably going to attract judge attention and deck checks which will most likely lead to game losses because the chances of numerous sleeves being damaged or marked is so high. It's not worth it imo.
Maeriberii Haan
Character sleeves are usually frailer than normal sleeves, p'much, and iirc in Yugioh double-sleeving is not allowed so even if you use the ones with higher quality, it's just not worth it. Granted, if you're allowed to double sleeve, this is less of a problem.
Mugendramon
Suppose you bought the sleeves speifically for this and are only using them now, they're mintier than your cards. Just how little abuse can they take before they're marked to the point of being visibly distinct?
cr47t
This isn't me about to do that. I just saw some custom sleeves on DN and it got me wondering. How do you get custom sleeves on DN anyway? (or if you know, custom avis)

Maeriberii Haan
Suppose you bought the sleeves speifically for this and are only using them now, they're mintier than your cards. Just how little abuse can they take before they're marked to the point of being visibly distinct? Depends on the manufacturer. AFAIK many of the ones available in the west are quite easily peeled off after just >20 games, especially if you shuffle roughly and didn't use a good playmat. There's also things like Bushiroad's official sleeves and the generally better quality character sleeves, which could handle more abuse before signs of damage shows. Again, this depends on how rough you play.
Mugendramon
On another note, would a sleeve that displayed a card from the same game be illegal? Think sleeves that all have Raigeki on the back.
ihop
For the record, double sleeving is not allowed, as are, I'm pretty sure, sleeves with cards on the back.
CLG Klavier
For the record, double sleeving is not allowed wait what why the fuck? In MTG it's common practice. People even triple sleeve sometimes.

CLG Klavier
Who knows. All I know is that it's not allowed anywhere, not even in the extra. Dumbest rule in the world. Double sleeving gives you zero kind of advantage.
Maeriberii Haan
YGO's the only major cardgame that disallows it iirc. It's probably so you can't hide small objects on the sleeved card to mark it, buuuuuut even with thick double sleeves usually it's obvious enough as far as I've tried doing it. Mugendramon
I guess an incident of some kind regarding double sleeving gave the community a concise reason to disallow it?

Toffee.
If you go up against someone that, say for example, has a strong dislike of MLP- You quickly swap your sleeves to ones with Pinkie Pie on them :Kappa:Back when DN gave everyone free custom sleeves/avatars for a week, I used sleeves that had Pinkie holding a chainsaw on them; I got a handful of negative reactions, which was silly. Unintentional, but still pretty silly.
