Rodrigo
As a resident EDH player I need to show my main (and favorite) deck to you guys =D http://deckstats.net/decks/15245/83425-maelstrom-wanderer-combo?saved=1&lng=en Deck pics (sorry for the low quality, my phone sucks) Commander pic Most people start a game with me already fearing this deck. Maelstrom Wanderer is, indeed, one of the strongest commanders ever made, possibly too strong and a ban target. He is also one of the biggest targets during the game, meaning that people with creatures out will usually aim their attacks at me. But what most people fail to notice is that this deck has no degenerate cards other that the main combo and the commander himself. I run no mass land destruction cards, no lock cards, and very few board wipes. My aim with this deck is not to screw my opponents over, but really to win as fast as possible, which in my opinion is much better than simply playing an Armageddon after you established a board. Because if you win fast, you can always just start a game. And my local meta is actually very strong, with finely tuned decks and powerful cards, as well as good players, which means I don't win as often as it may seem. Basically, I chose this commander because cascade is a very fun mechanic, as you usually don't know what you're going to get. In fact, I only run three library manipulation cards, exactly because I like the unpredictability. Sure, it makes the deck less consistent, but I don't think anyone would want to play against a perfectly consistent Maelstrom Wanderer deck. So yeah, this deck is my baby and I've been working on it for over two years. It's my treasure.

Simping For Hina
>No degenerate cards >Mana Crypt We need to have a talk. Rod is actually a fair player that likes tougher spots in more interactive match ups, trying to skewer a win in the most meaningful way That is why I love playing against him in EDH. (GigaDrillBreaker)
I think you miss my point. Mana crypt is an incredibly degenerate card. If the format had any semblance of fairness, it would be banned. I am not saying he shouldn't run it, but his word choice was a bit funny.
Rodrigo
I don't think Mana Crypt is more degenerate than like Armageddon. It's my personal opinion, but the basis for this is that it's only a mana rock. Possibly the best mana rock ever printed, but still just a mana rock that doesn't do much on its own. You have to know how to play it too. You don't just drop it on turn 1 if you don't plan to use it so soon. Armageddon and mass land destruction as a whole are also cards that you can't play at any time, but when they connect they end the fun immediately. Mana Crypt never ends the fun this way. CLG Klavier
Rodrigo's logic is that it's all fair until he doesn't try to stax opponent and try to stop them from playing. I keep trying to explain him that killing people on turn 7 DOES prevent them from playing but nooooooo. =P

But if someone destroys all lands, usually they can't win on the spot, but it's so frustrating to play after getting your mana base wiped out. IMO combo wins > stax/lock/mass land destruction wins

bury the year
IMO combo wins > stax/lock/mass land destruction winsPersonally, if you're going to drop MLD, you'd better be in a position of overwhelming advantage over your opponents. That just seals the deal and almost forces a concession. If not, the game gets painful for everyone.

(GigaDrillBreaker)
The way I see it, though MLD is less fun, Crypt is the most degenerate card in the format. Also, I too am jealous of your Venser.
