bury the year Posted March 28, 2015 Report Share Posted March 28, 2015 Also titled, "When Phosphorus Watches Anime, It'd Better Damn Well Be Good." And thus it delivers.The premise is simple. Two people arrive in a bar. They have no clue what they're doing there. They meet the bartender, Decim, who puts them in a game with (supposedly) their lives at stake. This may be problematic for the guests, but Decim's revealed to have a lot of baggage of his own to deal with. If you're gonna watch it, I suggest at least seeing episodes 1-2 before passing judgment: they're two sides of the same coin and watching just one won't give you an idea of what the show's like.Plus, it has the catchiest (and most non-indicative) OP I've ever seen. Finale just aired, so all 12 episodes are available. Go watch it. You'll love it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
a bad post Posted March 29, 2015 Report Share Posted March 29, 2015 This is easily one of my favorite animes in a while. I loved the opening, the characters, and the story.
I really want a season two to see what happens now that Decim has developed emotions, and see how that changes the way arbiters make their judgements, and the end of the conflict between Nona and Oculus. Also I would've loved to see some more of the tower, and some of the other arbiters conducting judgements considering we really only got that one episode with Ginti.
Seriously though guys watch this it's a great ride. EHN. Posted March 29, 2015 Report Share Posted March 29, 2015 Definitely recommend. Don't ditch after episode 1 or 2, it gets a lot better. Rodrigo Posted March 29, 2015 Report Share Posted March 29, 2015 Heck, episode one got me hooked already. This anime is fantastic and a must-watch even if you're not into anime. Madhouse delivers. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

EHN. Posted March 30, 2015 Report Share Posted March 30, 2015 No ;-; they leave so many questions unanswered.
Yeah, way too much left unanswered. We can only presume that things go back to the norm with Decim and Ginti but what really bothers me is that Nona vs Oculus was never fully resolved. I guess we have to wait and see if they will continue.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mshends Posted March 30, 2015 Report Share Posted March 30, 2015 While the show is great and stuff, theres one thing I don't really understand at all
One of the rules state that arbiters can't have any human emotion, cause that will interfere with the judging. While Decim had shown this, Ginti on the other hnad was shown to be hot-blooed -_-
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

A good example is Clavis, he is always shown smiling but it doesn't mean he is experiencing any actual emotion.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Fusion X. Denver Posted March 30, 2015 Report Share Posted March 30, 2015 This show was such a nice surprise. I remember when Death Billiards was released as an interesting one-shot, only to hear it was getting an anime. I was skeptical since I wasn't sure if they'd be able to stretch the concept into a full season. But Madhouse did it again; everyone's different stories and characters being explored made it fun to come back to every week and the finale satisfied me enough even if we don't get a 2nd season, though I'd definitely welcome it. 9.5/10 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bury the year Posted April 1, 2015 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2015 Wow, surprised this thread got posts. o_o;;
Yeah, I'm hoping for some kinda followup. If not a second season, at least a direct-to-video or something. I agree that Nona vs. Oculus wasn't really explained, although I think from what Oculus said in the last episode that he's merely a puppet for some other inscrutable power. Doubt it will happen, though. Apparently the show hasn't been selling well at all in Japan. Shame. And yeah, there's a difference between acting human and actually feeling human emotions. Ginti's an asshole, but that's just because it's how he's "programmed." Decim's stoicism cracks after he experiences genuine emotion. Also, that last episode gave me so many feels. Chiyuki passed the test that Mayu failed. 2cute2handle. ):
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
