Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls

If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can banish a total of 2 WATER and/or Dragon-Type monsters from your hand and/or Graveyard, except this card; Special Summon this card. During your opponent's End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Return it to the hand. You can discard this card and 1 WATER monster to the Graveyard; send 1 monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. If this card is banished: You can add 1 WATER Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

A friend of mine played Mermail at a local recently and they're really bad lol. They lose easily to all of the top decks.

That said, Tidal is by far the best card in there. It's really really good because it has a nice level, a decent attack and just keeps coming back really easily. I haven't seen the new Atlantean stuff yet but if it's any good this might see a comeback, because this is easily the best card in Mermail right now were they a thing.

Necloths are WATER though, is my point.

and that has nothing to do with what i was saying because the deck formally referred to as "WATER" is mermail/atlantean and it called WATER because it runs other water cards like undine or tidal, and just calling it WATER is easier to say

so your point is irrelevant and WATER still sucks

Necloths say hi.

Why in the holiest of all fucks would Nekroz even want to play Tidal? If they wanted to be playing Tidal, don't you think it'd be in lists by now? Apart from the fact they remove their stuff from Grave to search more Ritual Spells already, the dump effect is absolutely useless in Nekroz unless you want to do some cute -2 plays with Unicore.

 Also, Dragon Ruler was a pretty legit cool deck. Make it happen again, Konami ;~;

As hilarious as banishing Shurit and Tidal to summon, then search Decisive Armor sounds, it's really bad. It's just not needed and it's actually quite rare that you have stuff you want to banish, all for a somewhat useless level 7 beater.

I took a closer look and now I understand why this was banned. I'm a poet and I know it. This turns your graveyard into a monster searching directory where you can weld together OP as hell formations.

It was limited.

And the main reason for that was because you can banish it for the other rulers, to then search another copy of itself.

And you were doing so well with that post until the last part. *sigh*

I love Tidal the most of the Dragon Rulers, although this may be because it seems to directly help support its Attribute the most of them (Blaster comes second). Most WATER centric Decks want to send something to the Graveyard, such as Frogs and the like, and fill up the Grave fast.

But the Dragon Rulers were probably some of the worst designed cards I had ever seen at that point.

frogs are actually pretty strong as a purely stall deck atm, at least at my local game stores, the necloths and qli decks I faced wrecked me, but burning abyss, ritual beasts and heroes actually lost to me more than a few times. (I bounce monsters really easy, and Aeigis prevents absolute zero from touching me). I didn't face any yosenju or shaddoll players though.

on topic though, tidal was practically the worst card in my deck while I ran it, he has decent atk, but he doesn't actually do anything effective in water decks that other monsters wouldn't be better suited for. I swapped him out for lava golem and get far better results now (give them a lava golem and bounce it back for reuse with flipflop/penguin. their faces never fail to make me happy.).
