VampireofDarkness
Based around a rather pessimistic view of life and death, the Dread Angels are a DARK Fairy-Type Xyz Based archetype that revolves around keeping one Rank 4 or Rank 8 Xyz on the field at a time. They can easily pump such Xyz out and some have solid effects, can regenerate materials, and have access to several cards that on their own are quite solid. The catch? They all cost Life Points, all effects are mandatory, and you can only control one of each of the Main Deck monsters at a time. Aside from playing the Deck a pure build with the basic concept down, most likely with a good amount of backrow, you can also run techs like the Darklords, Jar of Avarice, White Dragon Collapserpent, and other Level 8 Boss Monsters like Archlord Kristya and BLS to have a Chaos Agent-esque Deck that has a fair amount of speed, which is what I chose to run in the tournament. As always, CnC is appreciated. Although I didn't do so hot in the tournament, I think I am starting to realize what the Deck fell short on, and thus am fixing such.

At the end of your Main Phase, if you control a "Dread Angel" monster(s) with a Level, target one of those monsters, then pay 800 Life Points (This is not optional); the level of the targeted monster becomes 8, then immediately Xyz Summon a DARK Fairy-Type Xyz monster using this card and the targeted monster as Xyz Materials. During either player's End Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard and you control exactly 1 "Dread Angel" monster with a Level and no other monsters, pay 800 Life Points (This is not optional); Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned this way, target 1 "Dread Angel" monster you control; the level of the targeted monster becomes 8, then immediately Xyz Summon a DARK Fairy-Type Xyz monster using this card and the targeted monster as Xyz Materials. You can only control 1 "Dread Angel of the Devoured Throne".

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by banishing 1 Level 4 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your Graveyard. You can Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard) by sending 1 Level 8 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your hand to the Graveyard. Once per Turn, you can activate one of the following effects (This is a Quick Effect): - You can send 1 Level 4 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your hand and 1 Level 8 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. - You can send 1 Level 8 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your hand and 1 Level 4 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then target 1 DARK Fairy-Type monster you control; that target is unaffected by the opponent's card effects this turn. If you didn't activate this effect this turn, pay 800 Life Points and reveal your hand. (This is not optional) You can only control 1 "Dread Angel of the Illusionary Reign".

2 Level 4 DARK Fairy-Type Monsters If this card is the only monster you control, it cannot be destroyed by monster effects. During each player's End Phase, detach 1 Material from this card, then pay 500 Life Ponts (This is not optional); send 1 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard. During either player's End Phase, if this card has no Xyz Materials, target any number of "Dread Angel" monsters you control, except "Dread Angel of Armageddon", and if you do, pay 500 Life Points (This is not optional); Attach the targets to this card as Xyz Materials, then send 1 DARK Fairy-Type monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard.

2 Level 4 DARK Fairy-Type Monsters When this card declared an attack while it is the only monster you control, your opponent cannot activate cards and effects until the end of the Battle Phase. When this card destroys a monster by battle, detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and pay 500 Life Points (This is not optional); this card can attack again in a row. Before the end of either player's Battle Phase, if this card has no Xyz Materials and your opponent controls a monster(s), target any number of "Dread Angel" monsters you control, except "Dread Angel of the Tempted Swords", and if you do, pay 500 Life Points (This is not optional); Attach the targeted monsters to this card as Xyz Materials, then this card battles one monster your opponent controls.

2 Level 4 DARK Fairy-Type Monsters If this card is the only monster you control, your opponent can only activate the effect of 1 Spell/Trap card per turn. When this card destroys a monster by battle, detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and pay 500 Life Points (This is not optional); gain Life Points equal to half the ATK of the destroyed monster. During the End Phase, if this card has no Xyz Materials, target any number of "Dread Angel" monsters you control, except "Dread Angel of Lustful Reflections" and if you do, pay 500 Life Points (This is not optional); attach the targeted monsters to this card, then gain 500 Life Points for each attached monster.

2 Level 8 DARK Fairy-Type Monsters If this card is the only monster you control and has Xyz Materials, it can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. During each player's End Phase, detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, pay 800 Life Points, then target 1 card your opponent control; destroy that target. During either player's End Phase, if this card has no Xyz Materials, target any number of "Dread Angels" you control, except "Dread Angel of the Forgotten Vengeance" and if you do, pay 800 Life Points (This is not optional); you can destroy 1 Set card on the field.

2 Level 8 DARK Fairy-Type Monsters If this card is the only monster you control and has Xyz Materials, it is unaffected by other card effects. At the start of each of your opponent's Draw Phases, before they draw, pay 800 Life Points and detach 1 Xyz Material from this card (This is not optional); look at the top card of your opponent's Deck, then put that card on the top or bottom of their Deck. During either player's End Phase, if this card has no Xyz Materials, target any number of "Dread Angel" monsters you control, except "Dread Angel of the Withered Rose" then pay 800 Life Points (This is not optional); Attach the first targets to this card as Xyz Materials, then look at the top card of your opponent's Deck, and put that card on the top or bottom of their Deck.

2 Level 8 DARK Fairy-Type Monsters If this card is the only monster you control and has Xyz Materials, neither player can activate Spell or Trap cards, except during the Main Phase and End Phase. At the start of each of your opponent's Standby Phases, detach 1 Xyz material from this card and target 1 card your opponent controls, then pay 800 Life Points (This is not optional); until the end of this turn, that card's effects are negated, and if it is Set, it cannot be flipped face up. During either player's End Phase, if this card has no Xyz Materials, target any number of "Dread Angel monsters you control, except "Dread Angel of the Razor's Edge" and if you do, pay 800 Life Points and target 1 Set Spell/Trap card your opponent controls, if any (This is not optional); attach the first targets to this card, and the second target cannot be activated while you control this card. VampireofDarkness
Nice cards! Good to see you finally made the thread for it. Thank you! (GigaDrillBreaker)
Iwill post a full review later. For now, I would like to point out that the current rules have no way to enforce the fact Blackened Wing's effect is mandatory, since it activates in hand. Cirrus
The concept is great, but the LP costs add up very, very quickly. As a result, this deck is unable to perform / has a nonexistent lategame. You should probably add a couple tools to swing your LP the other way, aside from your Field Spell (which is honestly pretty fragile). Maybe add an effect to banish your Field and a monster from your graveyard to add LP equal to the banished monster?

Maybe add an effect to banish your Field and a monster from your graveyard to add LP equal to the banished monster? Perhaps to fit the flavor of the Deck, have such effect happen upon destruction? (So it has some reason to be mandatory) "If this card is destroyed, banish 1 DARK Fairy-Type monster in your Graveyard (This is not optional); gain Life Points equal to half the ATK of the banished monster" maybe? Cirrus
Sure; although I'd recommend "leaves the field" if it's so mandatory and it's only half of the ATK.

(So it has some reason to be mandatory) "If this card is destroyed, banish 1 DARK Fairy-Type monster in your Graveyard (This is not optional); gain Life Points equal to half the ATK of the banished monster" maybe? So, you are going to rely on a single monster? That could get you killed. I say create a trump card, because when I see you play your move is to bring out Darklord Krystia, and you don't end up using your Xyz. Make a card that can balance your life, reverses cost effect to opponent, or that stops defenses on both sides somehow to make it an all out brawl for victory, hoping you can overpower them. Also, make that card easily accessible but requires set up to activate, like banish a specific monster from your grave but allow both that card and the trump card to be searched by shadows. VampireofDarkness
Sure; although I'd recommend "leaves the field" if it's so mandatory and it's only half of the ATK. Done! Thanks! That definitely will help. I'll see how this holds up in the pure build, perhaps also since it's only one method, maybe a Guardian Angel Joan esque Xyz or a Lv4 that gives a healing effect when used as a material? VampireofDarkness
New cards added: - Dread Angel of the Fallen Feathers to search the Level 5 or highers, making Sorrow or Trade In always live. The 2nd effect of it also fixes some Life Point issues, although almost never more than you already are paying - Dread Angel of the Illusionary Reign fixes a ton of bricking issues, and gives the Deck a much needed destruction tool - Dread Angel of Lustful Reflections gives a Turn 1 Rank 4 without being too situational, in addition to fixing the Life Point problems the Deck inherently has - Dread Angel of the Razor's Edge assures you safety during the Battle Phase and from random Castels, although in trade for easy bait and none of your own random Quick Play shenanigans - Last Resort of the Dread Angels is a rather amusing take on the archetypal Counter Trap Card, punishing your opponent for taking out your Xyz a little too early Updates to cards: - Due to game mechanics, Dread Angel of the Blackened Wing is now optional - Dread Angel of Armageddon is now an archetypal End Phase Lavalval Chain - Dread Angel of the Forgotten Vengeance is now an archetypal End Phase popping machine. Considering some sort of randomized effect for it, but not sure how that would work
VampireofDarkness
Bump. Revised Razor's Edge to be a negation during your opponent's Standby Phase since a 2 time Yazi might be a bit much
VampireofDarkness
Bump. Thoughts on the new cards anyone?
BtanH
Hey so my thought is that instead of taking damage when you activate the effects, make it so that you take some amount of damage (baseline 800 maybe?). This way you aren't punished for making plays with your cards. You said the goal is to side on 1 XYZ at a time, and this change would punish you for summoning a bunch of cards and not turning them into the 1 XYZ you want to be sitting on.Also, this gives puts you on a clock that's easier to control. With this, you lose in 8 turns, assuming you have a monster each turn. If you find that's too short, make the damage less. Or more damaage if you find it's too strong.
