Swift Scarecrow

When your opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can discard this card; negate the attack, then end the Battle Phase (this is a Quick Effect).


So, in such an OTKcentric metagame, is it possible that a card like this might be viable? Let them commit heavily toward their kill, then stop it with this before turning it around and pulling your own.

I never thought I'd actually see the time period when Swift Scarecrow was seen to be better than Fader.

 

To be honest, it has been that way for a while. Outside of things along the lines of Monarchs that want as many tributes as they can get, Scarecrow has been preferred. Before Vanity's, it got around Solemn Warning.
