Valentine's Day

~ P O L A R I S ~

Let us not lament our singlehood or dwell on the inconsequential insignificance of the corporate shenanigans behind Hallmark's favorite day. Nay, let us celebrate and appreciate love as a whole. The love we all hold for family, friends, food. Love that we don't ruminate on, yet love that is so instrumental into the way we live. Yes, I believe Valentine's Day today should celebrate love's very existence. Regardless of having a significant other or not, let us remember the love we hold for everything and everyone else in our lives, those precious feelings as we guzzle down chocolate, alcohol and/or the sweat and tears of our youth in the coming hours.

In this spirit, YCM, I graciously ask of you all to be my Valentine.

You can love someone without having them be your boyfriend/girlfriend, you know. So whoever's complaining about not being in a relationship on Valentines Day, you're doing it wrong. Like Cowcow said: Love is more than having a lover, but just being passionate and caring and understanding towards others, which is what the world needs a LOT more of. No more pointless arguments about your views or beliefs, and instead more appreciation for the GOOD things about THEIRS.

Also, fun fact: the heart symbol is derived from the shape of a Silphium plant seed pod. The plant ties with sexuality and love in various writing, having taken place in scenes of love and eroticism. Put generically into the subject of "love", the seed pod's heart shape became a symbol of that.

Mine was great. I got hugs from a strange old man in the back of a Costco because he had a hugging licence, so it was legit. He also gave me pretty great advice and got really passionate about baseball.

Aside from that me and my gf sent each other packages, and she got me so much candy I think I got diabetes. Also a very derpy little teddy bear, and a really gay necklace. So it was pretty fantastic.
