chairman ali
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/02/12/us/chapel-hill-shooting-hate-crime-explainer/ Sure, when a Muslim does it, it's a hate crime. But hey! He's a white American, no hate here! Edit: And I haven't seen this on western news either http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2015/02/06/396476/South-Carolina-professor-shot-dead

Cin
Some people did complain on the BBC's facebook page for not covering the first story. For the first, it's difficult if there are no witnesses to call a hate crime a hate crime, but like you said if the roles had been reversed it would automatically classed as a hate crime, witness or not. Tentacruel
> Hates religous people. > Kills religous people. I'm gonna go with yes. That or terrorism. But eh, it doesn't matter where he's going. Give the mofo a life sentance and be done with it. Edit: The guy was part of a facebook page called "Atheists for Equality." My fucking sides. From another article, "We don't yet know whether anti-Muslim bias is involved." Yeah go fuck yourself.
Slinky
From the second link A non-profit website called Gun Violence Archive has recorded over 4,000 gun incidents in the country in 2015 (as of February 6). According to the website, 1,207 people have lost their lives to gun violence during the first 36 days of this year. How accurate is this? It reallllllly seems like a severe exaggeration. ~ P O L A R I S ~
I'd be stunned if the triple homicide here weren't life-imprisonment whether it's a hate crime or not, but it's important that this be classified as the hate crime it quite evidently is as a precedent for dealing with future crimes of similar intent but less severity (in cases of similar severity, a life sentence is a life sentence anyway.) Cin
If that's true, that is a really sad fact, that's why the BBC tries to maintain independence from Politics (bar the License Fee)
.Rooster
The guy must be prosecuted, and he will. The American government knows that. I'm guessing this will not be reported on TV, since people are too busy reporting the same things again and again. And again...
