Last Stand of the Fallen Ones

Trap/Counter

If your opponent controls a "Shaddoll", "Qliphort", "Burning Abyss", "Nekroz", "tellarknight", "HERO", "Yosenju", or "Ritual Beast" card, and you have no "Shaddoll", "Qliphort", "Burning Abyss", "Nekroz", "tellarknight", "HERO", "Yosenju", or "Ritual Beast" cards in your hand, on your side of the field, in your Graveyard, or in your Main Deck or Extra Deck: Banish all "Shaddoll", "Qliphort", "Burning Abyss", "Nekroz", "tellarknight", "HERO", "Yosenju", and "Ritual Beast" cards in your opponent's hand, on their side of the field, in their Graveyard, in their Main Deck and in their Extra Deck. and if you do, Special Summon as many monsters as possible from your Graveyard, ignoring their Summoning conditions, then your Life Points become 16000.

One of the most dumb cards to ever be placed in the section, yet... with the current description, it actually fits. Because, in all technicality, it IS designed with the current metagame in mind. The above archetypes pretty much ARE the metagame in a nutshell.

So yeah, may seem like nitpicking, but that wording actually can cause confusion.

also start warning the guy whos putting blatantly retarded cards in the section

there's still a boundary between things that adheres to the section and stupid things that should only exist in JoC.

atm we're still thinking of a more-fitting title for it, so please wait warmly until we can pull one, or give some suggestions in this thread that would clearly separate Advanced and Casual, without making it either seems that one of them are too inaccessible, or degrading to the other section.

I agree. I think the purpose of Advanced section is still unclear.

But the title (Advanced Cards & Design) is fine in my opinion; it just needs a more accurate description, plus state the goal and standards for the section in a pinned thread or something, to avoid any confusion.

Anyways, I don't have a suggestion for a better description for the section, but Instead I suggest Pirika as a example/reference of a card fit for AC:
It breathed life into Gustos by supporting their win condition (Sphreeze) and even takes advantage of E-Tele; and yet, it comes with a restriction of locking Special Summon to only WINDs, which in a way keeps her in check. Sure, Gustos didn't skyrocket to top tiers because of her, but is still an amazing boon for the archetype, without being too crazy. So, I think cards designed for AC should strive to be more like Pirika.

Because let's be honest, for a card to be relevant in the current metagame, it would have to be as strong as the announced Atlantean Prince (if not stronger), and I believe that a card like that would go against the goals of AC.

On the other hand, if someone were to make a card as good as Atlantean Prince, then it would most likely go on Casual Section.

Indeed, the word "balanced" needs to be in the description; though lately it's really only that one member who's making broken crap in the section.

One of us is going to have to give him a stern talking to.

And for a brief summary of what myself and Nai interpret Advanced and Casual to be (in discussions),

  • Advanced is essentially for metagame-related things, yes, but also for cards that are properly designed (even if you have little to no knowledge on what the hell actually goes on in the gamestate or don't frequent TCG).
    • Unless you're Black or one of the TCG veterans and/or came from another site and had a good amount of experience in the game, most members wouldn't know what constitutes the metagame.
  • Casual is basically for everything else that stays within the balanced range, but not as harsh as Advanced. More or less for the members who want to design cards for their own merit, and not judge by whatever Konami just made lately. Let's face it, a lot of us don't agree with what Konami did to the game; especially with Qlips, Shaddolls, BAs and whatever.

The word "balanced" has been put into the description; really should've been common sense by now, but we know that part is lacking in a select few, like this case. (I see Nai has moved his latest thread).

Unintentional overpowering is natural, and that's why we're here; to help them fix it up so they work properly and not screw the game up. Again, some of us don't know of the existence of Rulers and other cards of disgraceful repute, or we forget about them.

Intentional overpowering, like what this user's been doing in his card threads, is grounds for being sent to Joke & OPed Cards.

Let's reiterate this point, so everyone gets it.

Just because Konami makes broken crap like Qliphorts, Burning Abyss, Shaddolls and whatever else may come in the future, it DOES NOT, under any circumstances, give you permission to follow in their footsteps and do the same.

We -don't- want crappy/gimmicky cards or overpowered cards in casual too, but cards there shouldn't be judged on its competitive merit, and simply on the roles it do and its design.

While Advanced also brings in competitive merit to mind aside from the above two.

So in the end, what separated the two are the mindsets behind them, not the quality of cards there.

now to fit this into the section's description....

Actually, I believe this is what I said regarding the issue, Sakura.

As already stated, the BALANCED description was added for both Casual and Advanced.

Indeed, there's a very thin line between what differentiates Casual and Advanced; just that one factors in whatever people are playing nowadays and the other dwells on other things + self merit.

You can still make an Advanced quality card, and not design it up to the current meta; because again, aside from TCG veterans and whoever's been playing competitively for a while, how are you to know what's in season. It's recommended that you understand it a little bit, but not saying that you'd have to be an expert in the matter to post in Advanced.

If we did that, only a handful of members would even go in Advanced, and we'd be shafting everything else to Casual.
