It's OFFICIAL, SPIDER-MAN WILL BE IN THE MCU.

Recommended Posts

It made my year, let alone the week. I think Sony did pretty decently with Spider-Man overall, even the Amazing movies, but Spidey's needed to be back in Marvel's creative control for a long while now. To me, MCU movies have this very unique feel to them that other superhero movies don't have. You could attribute it to all of them being connected, but there's something intangible beyond that that I can't begin to express.

Basically, a Marvel movie feels like a Marvel movie, and nothing else. And I think Spider-Man has been missing that Marvel factor to it that'll truly make his movies and presence into something special.

(that probably didn't make sense, but yeah, this is awesome news)

I enjoyed all of the movies, even Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man 2, but I'm much happier with this. Kind of disappointing that so many movies are being pushed back in favor of this, but hey, hopefully that ends up being for the best.

I'd rather that, if they use Peter, they're able to bring back Andrew Garfield (Though reports are making it sound like that's not happening), or they just go with someone different altogether, namely Miles.

Also, the movie comes out a day before my birthday. HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE.

I feel like they won't since Garfield has such a heavy association with the publicly misaligned Amazing movies. I thought he was a great Spider-Man and I'm sad he didn't get to fully flex his wings, but regardless of who starred in Amazing, I think recasting for the MCU Spidey is the best move.

As for Miles, I wouldn't have a problem with that and it'd be interesting, but they're gonna do Peter Parker. Synergy with the show and other stuff, plus I think Marvel's eager to show off their take on Peter.

Now I'm just curious to see if they're gonna put a new adjective in front of his name for the 2017 movie.

And nice, hopefully that'll be a kickass birthday present.

MARVEL never release anything close to my birthday so you suck MARVEL!!!

Anyway, while I do think the ASM movies are ok at best, I do like Marc Webb's directing and Garfield's Parker. As long as I get more great movies like 500 Days Of Summer I guess.

Still happy for this news, just hope they won't pick another tumblr favorite i.e Cumberbatch as Parker.

Impossible seeing as Cumberbatch's going to be Doctor Strange.

Also, new info regarding how the deal went down and how sharing Spidey's gonna work.

Interesting that the spin-offs are still happening.

Dylan O'Brien is apparently being considered for Peter, and he's definitely a Tumblr favorite. I'm hoping for either Jacob Artist or Alfie Enoch as Miles, though.

The exactly details of the deal between Sony and Marvel don't surprise me, though I'm curious who that IGN article is referring to with the claim of Marvel's plan for reacquiring Spider-Man, or the later's theory that Disney plans to take Sony Pictures outright. That sounds more like the end result someone is expecting in light of this, but I guess I could see it.

"Sony will have final say over casting for the new Spider-Man, and is said to be looking for an actor much younger than Andrew Garfield, who is 31. Sony is looking to go back to 'Spidey’s roots and put the character back in high school.'"

I actually really like that, I never got that much of a "high school" feel from Maguire or Garfield.

You misunderstood me, I meant another tumblr favorite (i.e/like Cumberbatch) as their Parker.

LOL...see.

Mark Webber or Kieran Culkin for Parker and Donal Glover for Miles.

Alfie Enoch as Miles would be fun. Always wished we saw more of Dean Thomas in Harry Potter.

Same here, though if we're honest, I could totally see Bob Iger readying to buy Sony at the first opportunity. Even if that's not a rumor going around right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see him heavily considering that.

Ah, gotcha.

I'm wondering if they'll cast an unknown, but Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were pretty known people when they were cast, so maybe not.

I know I should be excited for this, but I guess it just makes me a little uncomfortable at how much larger and more complex the Marvel Cinematic Universe is becoming with each passing year. Plus, no matter how sucky the last one was, it feels like it might be incredibly redundant if we had a third Spiderman film remake already, barely a decade away from the first trilogy. Is it just me feeling this way?

But of course, chances are that they'll be able to make something really good out of it. I'm not exactly eager or excited, but hey, the guys at Marvel do know what they're doing, so I suppose whatever comes next will be good.

No, I think that's a legitimate concern given Amazing 2's box office savings compared to the other films. My worst fear is that Spider-Man fatigue from the general audience will dampen future efforts in trying to make him big again. But if anyone can turn this around, it's the creative heads at Marvel. So as far as I'm concerned, the best efforts in turning this around are in the works.
