It's terrible we lost not only such talent, but for others, an inspiration and an amazing friend. Even more so for his family.

More than just his works, I'm sure everyone will miss him. My condolences to everyone suffering from this. At least he wasn't suffering himself before he left...

I'll repeat my status:

Rather than crying and mourning over a person, be happy and appreciate the things they brought into your life. I'm not being an ass, I understand how much it hurts to lose someone you adored. But I'm sure of one thing - if Monty's life goal was to bring hapiness to people, he would like to see them being happy with the things he made.

I lost a grandpa who was like a 2nd father to me, he always understood me, we spent a lot of time together. I was 11 when it happened. I never cried, since I knew he was watching me. I just cherished the memories, the things he brought into my life.

If I didn't cry over my beloved family member dying when I was a kid, I think you guys can not cry and mourn like the world was ending about a, all in all, total stranger - to you - dying.

Focus on the good side. He brought you guys RWBY. So enjoy it, and make him proud.

More than that.
He singlehandedly revolutionized Red vs Blue by introducing his motion capture techniques, and created RWBY, their first truly original IP.
Both shows now have a talented team of capture actors and animators behind them to make sure the work he started can continue.
He may be gone, but he leaves behind a legacy that will endure.

Holy shit, people cry when people die, get the fuck over it.

It's okay to be sad people.

It's always sad when someone so young is taken from us.

This, this, a thousand times this. Being vulnerable makes you more of a person, not less.

Back on topic, damn. I've a friend who loves RWBY and who posted the GoFundMe no more than two days ago. I may have never watched RWBY, or much of RvB for that matter, but it's always terrible to lose someone at such a young age. My sympathies for his friends and family (and the entire community, really).

"As for honouring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can."

This is what I've been trying to do since I heard the news, trying to do something creative, shame I have too many ideas flowing through my head.

The loss of such an incredible creative force is one that hurts the world. This is just the same as when anybody is lost, really. Though the publicity is higher, every time a human being leaves this world, it is changed forever. At their time of departure, people can be measured in their impact on the world. When it comes down to it, Monty's impact was a positive one. He made people happy. He made people smile. He took part in the creation of a world that, though not ideal, just like our own, the most valued aspect is individuality, creativity, and concern for all mankind. He will be missed, yes, but the world that he created, the world that has taken residence in the hearts of us all, will live on.

Rest in peace, Mont Oum. We all love you.
