~ P O L A R I S ~
https://www.duelarena.konami.com/index.php Tried searching to see if this was posted, but there were a whole lot of references to duel arenas in myriad contexts so I figured I'd go for it to alert anyone who might be unaware and interested. Here's another official online Yu-Gi-Oh game from Konami. For those of you who were around for Yu-Gi-Oh! Bam and Yu-Gi-Oh Online, it's a little like those. YGOPro and DN are free options and this is free to play but money certainly helps with the acquisition of cards (sad, but then again the same can be said for the card game itself.) IDK if anyone here was around for Yu-Gi-Oh! Online or Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM, both were online Konami projects that went under and this might too, but for now it's here for you to make of as you will. On a plus note, there're a lot of side quests and such, there is a stamina thing where you stop gaining "DP" (the F2P currency with Miniclip Credits being the paid currency as the game's hosted by Miniclip), but you can totally duel without it now (you couldn't before, which was horrible and enough complaining got that fixed). There're also "Partner decks", some of which are very competitive but it drains DP you could use for cards to refill the amount of times you can use each individual partner deck (Normal Partners have 3 Rental Points before you need to spend 1000 DP to recharge but the cap can be extended through acquiring the same partner multiple times and special partners come with as many as 6 rental points. These include pretty complete Shaddoll and Yang Zing decks that rip face. I fux with this game HEAVY right now, so I bought a good hundred dollars' worth of virtual Qliphorts and have since been dominating the PvP side, but you can make quite a decent deck for free once you get some Fire/Ice hands and a Structure deck with staples. Your initial deck is some terribly ghetto s*** where you pray you'll draw Muka-Muka or enjoy losing, which can be kind of enjoyable in of itself if you like living dangerously. Welp, there's my 2 cents, enjoy the wonders of Konami's latest scam.

newhat
Some things about this game. 1. You have base 5 matches per day. You gain 1 match every 5 hours. Completing a 6-game CPU stage gives an Energy Drink that lets you play 5 more matches in a day. You can theoretically play 9 matches without using an Energy Drink. 2. A pack of 5 cards costs 4000 DP. You get 1000 for one game a day. Wins give 200, losses 100. Ladder games give 50 bonus DP, stacking up to 10 times. Each CPU Stage of 6 Quests gives 1000 bonus DP, a one-time reward that stacks as they get harder. There are other methods of DP generation, but once you finish all the CPU challenges it would be a miracle to get 6000 DP in one day. 3. Every day, you get a random Partner Deck for free. Some of them are good; most of them suck; all of them are suboptimal. This is what you will find on the Ladder and use to play CPU Quests. Each one has 3-5 charges. Restoring to full charges costs 1000 DP. Duplicate Partners increase the charge limit by 1 and restore it, up to 8. If you exhaust a super-strong Partner to win 4 CPU challenges, restoring it will cost more DP than you earned. 4. You cannot assemble a "good" Deck for free. I have bought more than 30 Judgment of the Light packs and have never seen a single Yamato or Susanowo. Decks that require multiple Ultra Rares would be harder. Polaris did not assemble a full Qliphort Deck, but you could get one as a Partner as a reward for owning a certain number of paywalled cards. This is also how you got the Yang Zing and Shaddoll Partners. Qliphorts would be out of the meta by the time you assembled the Deck with DP. 5. There are occasional Ladder challenges where you earn bonus DP for winning a certain number of Singles in 1 week. 30 wins grant a special Partner. Being Rank 1-100 for the week grants another special Partner. This is the most fun time to play the game; you can fight cancer after cancer, pay 1000 to restore a Madolche, HAT or Lightsworn partner over and over, and still make a profit. The top 100 have winrates around 75%. 6. There are sometimes paywalled Structure Decks that don't suck. I would rate this game P2W/5. I have three accounts. Slinky
well, with that description, this isn't worth the time or the effort. This seriously sounds like your standard F2P, but severely stacked against people who don't pay, even moreso than normal
goddamnit names are a pain
ygo has always been a pay to win game lol and even then you still have to be good with what you paid for to win the concept of this arena is hilarious
Slinky
ygo has always been a pay to win game lol and even then you still have to be good with what you paid for to win the concept of this arena is hilarious irl? yes but ygo irl is also not free to play, because you don't actually start off with anything without forking out money. mshends
Yes it will take time and effort to build a good deck, that's why I chose to build a Battling Boxer deck, they are all common (so very easy to get) and is a rank 4 deck. I have fun using it to beat people lol. I would recommend anyone to buy large amount of packs in Lord of the tachyon galaxy. (Also the elements dragon are in there as well, and is very easy to get them)
~ P O L A R I S ~
Yeah, Battlin' Boxers are very popular among F2P players as are Ice/Fire Hands among just about everyone. There's also an F2P Space-Time Structure Deck to help get your Mirror Force, MST, and other random cool stuff like Injection Fairy Lily, the Gazers and Empowered Warriors. For $10 you can get whatever MC-only Structure Deck's available (only one is at any given time) and the game becomes a whole lot easier (the LS deck is more than enough to start wrecking face in PvP, sadly it just became unavailable but Heroes is next and will probably be even better.) They use your personal card pool unlike Partner decks so you don't have to recharge them or anything and they just stay winning. From what I've seen anyone with the LS deck has gone over .66 winning percentage with it. Basically, arena win percentages work out something like this: Default personal deck: ~.100-.200 (can only really win against other defaults but there are a fair number of them around) Personal deck after a few weeks of getting daily free DP rewards and spending them on LTGY+DRLG/YS14: .500-.600 +$10 of MC's for a Structure Deck: .600-.700 Decent Partner Decks (free but need to be recharged with DP so tend to be used more sparingly): .700-800 Super Expensive Optimized Competitive Decks: .800-.900 So it's pretty cheap and easy to win over half the time, just not to utterly dominate. 1. You have base 5 matches per day. You gain 1 match every 5 hours. Completing a 6-game CPU stage gives an Energy Drink that lets you play 5 more matches in a day. You can theoretically play 9 matches without using an Energy Drink. They recently introduced duelling without stamina which affects your record and progress, you just don't gain DP. I've heard of it... but have yet to make an account. What is your overall rating? Well, they have rankings based on a weekly and monthly basis, but there's no real overall rating. There are two types of play, single duels and matches. In single duels I'm 181-83 and in matches I'm 24-0. The single duels are more competitive because matches are mostly just for using up stamina as the DP rewards are doubled so everyone does them, but only the players who feel reasonably ready tend to do extended amounts of single duels after their stamina's used up. Some of them are good; most of them suck; all of them are suboptimal. Yes, but only a very small percentage of players' personal decks are anywhere near optimal or better than good partner decks, so chances are if you're using a half-decent Partner Deck (and most are including common partners) and your opponent isn't, you'll win. Popular good partners include Ryko, Black-Winged Dragon, Shi En, X-Saber Urbellum, Blackwing Armor Master, Evilswarm Ouroboros, Mobius the Frost Monarch, Inzektor Giga-Mantis, and Madolche Puddingcess. (From the top 30 used partners this week.) You can find a list of partners and their decks here: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_Duel_Arena Polaris did not assemble a full Qliphort Deck, but you could get one as a Partner as a reward for owning a certain number of paywalled cards. It's true that I'm still short of some Skill Drains and Summoner's Arts (and from what I've heard of how hard it is to get short-printed commons Vanity's Emptiness is out of the question, but I got 3 of all NECH Qliphorts which is enough for a pretty decent skeleton and a win percentage of .800ish. I think the Partner-reward-for-owning-cards thing was just for DEUA because it was only available for paid currency for a while and then they changed their minds, I'm not sure if they'll do it for NECH since they didn't for previous packs. As of now there's no Qliphort partner, although there might be one for owning Qliphorts or topping in weekly rankings (as with Baxia, Brightness of the Yang Zing and Noble Knight Artorigus which are some of the best partners.) Tinkerer
Anyone know a decent way to earn credits without shelling out the $$$? I never pay for anything with real cash, but that keeps me at a loss due to no staples. As it is, I generally do not participate in the big tourneys, but I have an over .500 record otherwise with my beat down deck. Name on there is also Tinkerer. Dementuo
why are you using this when dn is free
Tinkerer
Because I like the idea of "earning" cards. In any case, is there a way to communicate with specific people on DA? I wanted to thank this person for a really awesome match.
goddamnit names are a pain
why are you using this when dn is free some people have a pack opening fetish except this is less cards for too much money kek At least this forces you to know what you're doing, as opposed to DN. ~ P O L A R I S ~
why are you using this when dn is free 1) Cards have effects and rulings built-in (like Pro) so you don't get into half-hour ruling disputes followed by half-hour waits for admins to resolve them. 2) DN and Pro allow for perfect decks, but since all decks are perfect you need to follow the script and practically net deck whatever the deck of the moment is. For this you have much more sway in the direction of your deck and there's less pressure to conform to whatever's au current. In any case, is there a way to communicate with specific people on DA? I wanted to thank this person for a really awesome match. I believe there's a messaging system but I think you need the player's "duel code" or whatever to track them down and such. :S Mine is 6607-8119-5792, holla atcha boi. newhat
I think the Partner-reward-for-owning-cards thing was just for DEUA because it was only available for paid currency for a while and then they changed their minds, They didn't change their minds. They deliberately paywalled DUEA and rewarded people who had its cards, then lifted the paywall after rewards were distributed. As of now there's no Qliphort partner You're right. I was thinking of the distribution reward for DUEA. 1 Shell for owning 10 Pendulums and 1 Scout for owning 15 Pendulums. One guy on the top of the ladder had a Fire First partner and avatar. I assume that's a Premium Partner.
SANDAA BORUTO
Damn, by what I'm reading here the P2W levels reach or maybe even surpass those some super P2W games have (like Need for Speed World had in 2012 or so). So that's one game to not even bother playing if you can't pay. Konami at its finest. I'll stick to DN, thank you very much. At least there you can netdeck the champion Decks and go on rated to have a few laughs against some noobs. And the best thing is that I don't need to spend a single cent to do that. ~ P O L A R I S ~
They deliberately paywalled DUEA and rewarded people who had its cards, then lifted the paywall after rewards were distributed. Perhaps, but they didn't paywall NECH so idk if they intended for it to be a pattern and it wasn't working or some such. One guy on the top of the ladder had a Fire First partner and avatar. I assume that's a Premium Partner. Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King was one of the earlier reward partners for 30 wins in a week. I believe Premium recruiting doesn't grant access to any characters that normal recruiting doesn't, it just allows you to get more partners if you wanted.
