Thar
The subject came to me while I was watching a Kara MV, which is Korean pop, but since both countries share a similar culture, Japanese pop is something I might have to put time into to determine which version I like better. Discuss. J-Pop or K-pop? Brownie points for those who can share a neutral opinion.
goddamnit names are a pain
I can swear I've heard some of both, and I rather like them both. I mean, I don't listen to it nearly as much as a lot of people do, but I like what I've heard of them so far. I mean, I can't understand the lyrics, don't want to, and I love the way Japanese/Korean voices sound when singing regardless. And then the "pop" part is pretty similar and well, that's good. After all, Gangnam Style was my reason for getting into K-Pop.
Raine
J-Pop has it's charm and can be eccentric but I'll be damned if K-Pop does get me jumpin' in britches over the tightest, hottest, boom-boomest males and female of the Asian variety. .Rai
And then the "pop" part is pretty similar and well, that's good. The 'pop' part is the main difference between the two genres. K-pop is hugely based on Western pop trends, j-pop is more insular an industry (partially due to Japan's national culture) hence why j-pop sounds more eccentric and such. ~ P O L A R I S ~
T.M. Revolution kicks some ass! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpyfCaBgqJI&spfreload=10 Had this in my head for years. Love the momentum and what a voice! Mostly just hear J-Pop from anime but hey, there's some good stuff out there and if you can find it then what's the source matter right? NotKrow
There's some J-pop I like, but not a whole lot. I used to be really big into K-pop from like 2006-20012 but I haven't really enjoyed most groups in the past few years. There's still some really good groups coming out, but a lot of it is crap nowadays imo.
