Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Since i realized there wasn't a topic about this yet, i thought i would acculturate some of you...

So you haven't watched this anime yet? Shame on you and on your family! (jk)

Ok seriously now, this anime is a complete destruction of what majokko animes are known for (pretty girls, with perfect lives saving the world, with a love story here and there) substituting it with things such as depressing backstory, deaths and things you wouldn't expect from an anime which is advertised with cute bubbly pastel sceneries!

The story is of these 5 girls, Madoka, Sayaka, Mami, Kyoko and Homura, they are or will become Magical Girls *magical rainbow appears behind the text*, the anime starts off really normally but it gets darker and darker the more it goes.

Oh and let's not talk about that creepy-ass mofo that's kyubey... he's watching you... /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\

To not spoiler anything i won't talk anymore about the story.

Magical girls: these girls become Magical Girls when they make a contract with Kyubey, their wish gets realized and they become magical girls, which will have to fight witches for the rest of their lives.

The music for this anime is truly EPIC (i would write it 10 times bigger if it was possible), using a lot of times a language made-up by the composer, which is a mix of latin, italian and japanese, or also it uses various european languages such as german.

Sadly the anime itself is very short, with just 12 episodes, but it has got 1 movie called The Rebellion Story (you can find also other 2 movies, but they are actually the series with some minor changes (music, better graphics, stuff like that)) but since to understand at least something you would have to watch the series i won't say anything about it.

This anime is very worth your time (and money), and it instantly became my favorite anime. So if there's any anime fan out there that hasn't watched it yet i highly suggest you to do so!

The parentheses at the end of the Magical Girl explanation is quite the major spoiler so you might consider removing it given in the sentence right above you decided to stop talking plot to avoid spoilers.

Anyway, I enjoyed the show and movie myself and stuff. First time watching it, the story really drew me in and I appreciate the odd sort of art style in the given setting.

Ironically enough, this was the first magical girl series I ever watched.

...come to think of it, this and Sailor Moon Crystal are the only ones I've seen (unless you consider KLK one).

It's a good watch and I'd say it's elevated itself into staple status and the go-to deconstruction of its genre.

And the Rebellion movie was pretty cool too.

I'm not as hyped over the series as other people, but it's definitely something I liked and would recommend.

Did someone say MAGICAL GIRLS?

Yes, the show is absolutely awesome, and it's by Gen Urobochi too, which is something. Personally, I didn't like the Rebellion Story all too much since it messed with the ending of the original, but hey, it's like a deconstruction of a Fix Fic, so~

My, that aside, I wonder how many fanfics I've written about this show.

I had just seen Expelled From Paradise a couple of weeks ago. s*** was glorious. Like, one of my favorite movies ever even.

I did not like this, though. I got pretty far in and I just loathed the protagonist. It was also rather…weird, and not the good kind. Pass.

Also…I share Desu's weakness. Thinking back on it…yeah, still was bullshit.

My only issue is that Madoka cries a lot, but I totally know that if I were in her situation I'd do way way worse so I can't blame her.

Pffft, Madoka had it bad like a candle to a wildfire compared to Homura, and Homura only cried once in the entire series.
