Agro
It's not like they'll be standing between the two factions ten minutes into the game and then be like, "See ya, bitches!" and stroll on over to Hoshido. well it'd be a significant change for the series if they didn't... lawl

Sethera
The point was moreso that Hoshido involves you abandoning loved ones for blood relatives, while also not having a noteworthy plot. It's not even a choice of "The family that raised me and being on the morally wrong side" vs "Relatives I have no real connection to and being on the just side". It's simply "be a good family member and try to better the world as a whole" or "be a prick to your family and fight for GOOD GUYS." This is the whole reason that, when I first heard about the two factions, I preferred Nohr, mainly cuz I'm the type of person that would choose those who raised me with love and care over blood-related strangers any day. However, judging from the way the Nohr king acts, especially in light of the recent trailer where he orders Kamui killed, I'm not exactly sure whether Nohr raised Kamui with "love and care." The Nohr siblings certainly seem loving enough, but...the father, idk. I'm thinking the game will probably give you more incentive to join Hoshido than just "blood is thicker than water." If not, I'll be disappointed, cuz if I had to pick only one version of the game to buy/play, the decision would be stupidly easy then.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
History is written by the victors. Whichever side you choose is likely going to be in the "right" more than the other side.

The origin of the phrase was "The Blood of the Covenant is thicker than the Water of the Womb", meaning fellow Christians should be closer than family. It just got twisted at some point down the line. The more you knooooow
Sethera
Well, wonky phrase aside, you get what I meant. xD Hoshido is basically choosing blood relatives over those who raised you, and hopefully they'll give more motivation to join than just that, since I can safely assume that the "big decision" is going to be one of the biggest parts of this game. If it weren't a difficult decision either way that would cheapen the game a bit imo. But that's a nice little tidbit I didn't know before. I shall keep that in mind whenever I use that phrase in the future. XD

Sethera
Sorry Cowcow, I just find it hard to understood the moo language. XD In all seriousness, my memory's like a sieve for some things (and it's almost eidetic for other things) which I think is normal for most people. On-topic, I am not as optimistic about it as Cowcow but I am hoping the game designers do make the decision more difficult than just the blood vs. non-blood thing. Also just in case you guys haven't heard about the translated version of the new trailer made by the lovely shadowofchaos725 (who did the translation for the My Castle video as well), here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1yQFYHGf7Q

It literally goes as far as to say "peace loving Hoshido or glory seeking Nohr." I can't think of any time that glory seeking was the good guys over peace loving, but hey I haven't played the game yet sooooo....
Cosmo.
The thing is not to choose between blood vs. non-blood. It's to choose between gothic waifus and pastel waifus. Also quick question, will the butler and maid be on both sides? because on the pic they're on Hoshido. I'm picking which game has My Castle function. But right now sticking more towards the Nohr thingy.

It literally goes as far as to say "peace loving Hoshido or glory seeking Nohr." I can't think of any time that glory seeking was the good guys over peace loving, but hey I haven't played the game yet sooooo....Latest trailer revealed that Nohr is about trying to change Nohr from the inside, to make it a better place, so it's Nohr that's glory-seeking, not you picking Nohr. Ok then i will pick NohrDo note, you get punished if you do this. To make Nohr more 'difficult', you do not gain EXP from battles inside of "My Castle". Only when you play Hoshido. Here's hoping international is a single game, and not the pricing bullshit nightmare Japan has. One copy is 42.4~ Bucks (Converted from yen, lft in single decimal because SF did). The online copy is 42.4 bucks, with a "free" one-time download of either Nohr or Hoshido after Chapter 5 or 6. You can buy the other stories (Nohr, Hoshido, Third Path) for 16.7~ bucks a pop. So, to get the full game, you have to pay 75.8~ bucks. Then the 'special edition' is 83.4~ bucks, has all 3 stories, an artbook, and a FETCG (they're reviving this...?) trading card. So unless that artbook is worth 7.50 more... I guess it's better than Pokemon, but considering these games focus more on character development and (in at least Nohr's case) story, it's a lot more disappointing. It's not like it'd be the first game to have an in-story branch choice, just a longer one, but instead they decided to develop it with the premise of milking hype. The voices all so far seem great. And the loli sisters don't seem to be just cute fan-service which is nice. Also Takumi's line was really cool to me. J-Max
Just give us a new Advance Wars damn it.... Dual Strike kind of ended on a cliffhanger so it would be perfect to bring back Black Hole in a huge way. Fire Emblem is starting to feel really milked now. Shradow
The series only just climbed out of its niche hole and become popular for the west a single game ago. It's a very long running series, yes, but that sounds like something someone would say about Mario or Pokemon. And AW is lame compared to FE. Dual Strike kind of ended on a cliffhanger so it would be perfect to bring back Black Hole in a huge way. Fire Emblem is starting to feel really milked now.Uh, what? FE has been around for 25 years, but it only has 1 true hit. Sure, I feel like they're possibly milking with parts of FE14/Fates, but I'm still going to try it, at least if it's a single version. Writing off Number 14 (10 games, 2 remakes, then Awakening) makes no sense, considering almost every FE is a quality game in its own right. Some aged poorly, but that happens to every franchise. If putting out 10 games and 2 remakes with only true success in Japan (with 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 [a remake of 1] all international but not really hits), then one game (Awakening) was a super hit, how is making another game after milking it? Fun fact; FE:A came out so well because it was the last hurrah. They did their best with it to keep the FE dream alive, despite expecting it to crash. Even then, the game has flaws, but it's the only one to really take the world by storm. My criticisms of FE come from someone who has played the seris sinc their international debut, and even gone back to play FE4 (partial, so damn hard), FE5 (well not yet, but), and FE6. I call it milking a bit, yes. Why? Because they did make some decisions that seem pandering, like a lot of My Castle and the Awakening-Children-Lookalikes. And multi-version is definitely intended as milking while trying something new. But the series as a whole isn't "being milked". A lot of changes, even those I don't like, are in the interest of keeping it fresh for the players they won with Awakening. Of course it doesn't look as good to an old player at a glance, it changes things in ways that seem to break a perfectly fine system. But, while less radically, almost every FE does this or rehashes a mechanic like this. Awakening took 4 old mechanics, one that had already been reused, and put them together. Traversable World Map, branching Class Changing Skills, and Children. And they were both huge hits. But it can't rely on the success of the old, and awakening added Second Seals as a 'refined' class change. So Fates seeks to improve upon this. No, at a glance, a lot of the changes look poor to me, but your attiude towards a franchise that is JUST NOW entering its glory seems unfounded. If anything, Gen 6 of Pokemon (on the whole) was a lot more MILKMILKMILK than FE:Fates is. Want a new AW for sure, but don't throw FE under the bus when it doesn't desere it.The series only just climbed out of its niche hole and become popular for the west a single game ago. And AW is lame compared to FE.dammit don't steal my words for the first half qq idk i like AW. It's not really exactly comparable, and though I've never played one (Watched others, listened to Bree), I would like to.
Shradow
To be fair they only did the 3 most popular children from the popularity poll (and the Lucina from the amiibo, but that's kinda different), seems like a harmless shout out to me. My Castle is something new they're trying out that I think adds a fair bit of content, since the games do tend to be kinda sparse in some regards. To call it pandering sounds kinda negative. There's no excuse to reuse models and personalities like that, unless they're actually the same character from an alt timeline or somthing. Even then, eh. My Castle has a lot of content that looks like pandering. It has a lot of positive content, too, but the pandering is there. Such as "FE Amie" and the hot springs. I can't remember off the top, but I felt like a lot of things shown in the My Castle thing felt either unneeded or pandering. The Arena seems fine, provided it still gives some form of EXP as well, and upgrading the weapon shop is cool. I'm not saying it's all negative, but I'm not saying it's all positive. Open to the idea as a whole, as a hub 'world' like that is neat, I just don't like some of the choices.

It's not like they're taking a character's place, they're just easily added in characters. Plus they're already breaking the mold with several characters (Female Fighter for instance) As for My Castle. Well, yeah? It's just added stuff. I don't see any real issue with putting the extra stuff in. As long as the rest of the game is still up to FE standards then I don't see why it'd be an issue. You might like some of the choices, but others do like it, which is what they should be doing. Giving us a bunch of content and seeing what works. They aren't making a game for just you, or even just FE fans, they're making a game for everyone. I dunno if that makes any sense or if it just seems I'm rambling. XDBut I do get why you don't like that stuff, even I'm ify about FE amie and I'm usually really open to anything.
