Getting a PlayStation 4 Soon...

So, aside from a few books and movies and clothes and Omega Ruby, all I got for Christmas was money. And, after a few discussions with my parents, I decided to use that money to buy myself a PlayStation 4. And a game, maybe two if I'm lucky. So, anyone have any recommendation what PS4 game(s) I should pick up?

It doesn't matter what genre of game it is, I'll check the game out of I think it looks good. Though, I was thinking of getting a game that had a long story mode - or at least one that I would keep coming back to to play - since I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to buy more games for the system. Obviously, GTAV and The Last of Us are available, but I have those games for the PS3 so I'm not sure I'll immediately go to the PS4 versions just yet. I was thinking of maybe picking up a copy of Destiny if they had one. However, I do know some people were disappointed in the game and I'm not sure how long the game is exactly. Is that worth it? I also know some people liked Watch Dogs (is that the correct name?), but I'm not sure that game is for me. I also recently saw a video of Far Cry 4 and that game looked amazing, but again I'm not sure it's worth it.

So...yeah, getting a PS4 at some point, need a game or two to go along with buying the system, and needed some general opinions/recommendations on games I should pick up.

No Watch_Dogs, I can't in all honesty recommend Destiny unless you're a Bungie fan, get Far Cry 4.

If you're looking for some cheap and junk-foody multiplayer stuff, you can't go wrong with CoD: AW. It's one of the better ones. If wanting some fighting game stuff, GG Xrd came out recently and is pretty good. I also hear that DA: I is a solid RPG, if you want that.

If you want a shooter, get Wolfenstein: The New Order, Far Cry 4, or CoD: Advanced Warfare (which, at points, honestly doesn't even feel like CoD)

Open world? Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor or, if you haven't played them on PS3, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition or Saints Row IV (which releases for PS4 later this month)

If you have multiple controllers, PS4 has a collection of amazing local multiplayer games in Towerfall: Ascension, Nidhogg, and Sportsfriends.

I'm just going to assume you already have PS+.

I totally forgot I made this topic....

I got a PS4 the other day and used the voucher code that came with it to download Destiny. Currently, the only game we own, but I hope to get to town soon and buy a game or two. I'll definitely check out all the games you guys have said. Definitely want to check out FarCry 4, Shadow of Mordor, and DA:I.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

Destiny is actually really good if you're not a bungie fan. Although you have to be a fan of the RPG/MMO genre more or less.

Games you might want to look at:

Depending on your style of gaming

- Killzone: Shadow Fall

- Infamous: Second Son

- The Last of Us Remastered

- Diablo 3

- Far Cry 4

- Final Fantasy XIV

- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Ofc, COD, FFXIV and others are more 'if you're into them' kinda games (which I am actually lol). But most games out on PS4 are really good. Look at Knack too, maybe that Lego Super Heroes game or whatever it's called. Look at the games being released this year, a lot of them are insanely good.

Don't lie to the man. Destiny is a good game wrapped up in one of the worst designed games of the year.

My issues with Destiny are numerous:
- Loot system is still broken
- Mission design is repetitive & just frankly bad
- Game design forces you to repeat repetitive missions
- Pretty damn dead if not playing with friends
- Story is uninteresting if even present
- Crap less content than I paid for

At least the shooting feels good. Multiplayer is the game's best asset.

Idk I'm not a big fan of most Bungie games but I did enjoy Destiny a fair bit. xP

Although the loot system is f***ing dreadful.

If someone came in without ever really looking up what Destiny was, I'm sure it was an ok game. I won't deny in saying that it's fun, but as someone who has been following it from the day it was announced, it was, more than anything, a huge let down. Way less content than promised, some flat-out lies, and a lot of expensive DLC on the way.

I'm sure the garbage bin known as Activision probably had soemthing to do with it, but still.

I'm sure the Destiny: "Game of the Year" edition that has all the DLC included for less than the original price will be a somewhat good game.

Destiny's main problem is that it tries to copy MMOs, which, honestly, are pretty piss-poor game design to copy from in the first place.
