Card A

Y3jmW0k.jpg

"Plaguespreader Zombie" + 1 or more non-Tuner Zombie-Type monsters
Once per turn: You can discard 1 card; Special Summon as many Level 4 or lower Zombie-Type monsters as possible from your Graveyard, but they cannot attack and their effects are negated. During either player's turn, when this face-up card on the field is targeted by a card effect: You can Tribute 1 other Zombie-Type monster; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

Card B

All Zombie-Type monsters your opponent controls lose 500 ATK. Once per turn; if you control no monsters: you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. If Summoned this way, banish this card when it leaves the field. This card cannot be used as a Xyz Material Monster.

This is super hard to decide. We either have broken as balls, or kinda crappy. Oh well.

Card A... ever heard of a hard OPT clause? No? Clearly you should have. You can use Dragoliches' revival effect to just bring back EVERYTHING you used to make him. And thus, can Synchro for him all over again. Discard, synchro for another 1. Discard, make a Rank 4. Congrats, by tossing 3 cards from the hand, you just made a walking OTK field that can ignore targeting effects to a degree. That's not good, like, at all. It's not a question of hand advantage, it's simply the fact that he can Soul Charge Zombies for a cost that's even less than the actual Soul Charge. And he doesn't take your Battle Phase either. Who cares if you can't use Zombie Master when you just discarded a card for 2 Rank 4s? That's not good design in any way, shape, or form. And it's not hard to make him, with the aforementioned Pain Painter reducing a Zombie to 2, so he, that newly made 2 and a 4 can make this easily. Or you can use Spirit Reapers/Beast of the Pharaohs as 3s.

I don't like Soldier. It's incredibly meh and outclassed by Beast of the Pharaoh as a level 3 for synchro summons. And his nerfing effect only hurts if you're using Zombie World, and even then it requires him to remain on the field as a big fat target. His only inherent gimmick is being quick fodder for a synchro summon, but considering he banishes himself afterwards it begs the question of why you didn't use Beast of the Pharaoh? At least then you get a free Zombie Master out of it.

Either way, I'm voting for B, as it is the lesser of two evils.

Welp, here goes nothing.

...

As much as I like Card A, its power level is admittedly questionable, even though mass SS'es aren't exactly unheard of *cough*Fagqliphs*cough*. The problem here is that the side effects from the mass SS, which sound fair enough, don't even matter in the end since you can still Synchro or Xyz your way out them like Broken mentioned earlier, which in turn recovers their ability to fight and use card effects. A stronger OPT clause would be nice too, since as it stands, there's no stopping anyone from making a second copy and using its effect. Coelecanth only gets away with such an effect because quite frankly, Fish were under-supported at the time of its creation. I can't remember if they still are or not, but we all know that that's far from the case for Zombies.

Card B on the other hand is... just plain bad. It relies on Zombie World in order to get anywhere, and even then, you need protection from attacks against the card. Even in the reliableSynchroMaterialforLevel5 department, it's outclassed by Beast of the Pharaoh, which begs the question why one would use this card over it.

...

So basically, we have a classic David vs. Goliath scenario. But in the end, Card B has the vote. At least it doesn't enable a ridiculous OTK or anything game-breaking.
