[spoiler=The thread]In light of the recent economic developments in YCM, and because I have nothing better to do with my life, I've decided (with the help of Night and Catman) to bring back

PLEASE NOTE: This is a One Month Long Event! If a running success, then perhaps it'll stick around for some time!

 

Using what little I know about math, I'll be managing the Second Official Stock Exchange of YCM. Hopefully, I'll be able to update the points listing every day, whilst attempting to juggle the various transactions that would go on. Additionally, I'll try my best to do it at the same time, or a little earlier. Said time will be between 7 and 12 PM PST.

[spoiler=How to do the thing?]

The basic formula used would be the following: ((Today's Total Posts - Yesterday's Total Posts) / Dividend) = Value.

 

For example, let's look at Realistic Cards - Singles. At the time of writing this, it is at 665,724 posts. For the sake of this, let's say it was at 664,724 yesterday. One simple calculation later, and you'd find the value at 1000. However, this is a whee bit high, so with a dividend of, let's say, 5, you'd hit a value of 200, which is fine if a THOUSAND posts actually happened.

 

This dividend value will remain constant throughout every forum. Decimals will also be rounded up to a whole number. See: 2.4 = 3. Additionally, the more populous sections might be hit by a decimal multiplier in order to keep massive profit from occurring. Some profit is good, easy riches is not. This also gives an additional rule to the Decimal Rounding: Decimals occurring as a result of a Decimal Multiplier will be rounded down, not up. See: 24.8 = 24.

Stock value = Points value, to make things easy.

 

In order to purchase stocks, you can either PM me with the amount of stock(s) you want to buy, or simply post it here. You can also sell your stocks back via contacting me in one of the aforementioned methods. Just remember that the amount of cash you get back will all depend on your own timing and market smarts.

 

I will, to the best of my ability, attempt to answer each request in a timely manner, but please remember. Any number of things can occur that might keep me from answering your request, or posting at all. Murder, Power loss, or simply being too busy in life.

 

Please note that I'll also be attempting to keep track of all transactions via a document on my laptop. This document can be requested at any given time.[/spoiler]

- I have the right to ban any member that are caught messing with the system.
- You cannot buy stocks if you do not currently have the amount of points needed for the purchase.
- I'm sorry I have to enforce this, but there has to be a limit to the number you buy. For example, if a rich member buys 2K stocks, and happens to sell for 500%, I'll be out of money to pay other members; in short, Stock Market Crash. While I have not yet created a limit, in the meantime just try not to go overboard. Limit 100 for now.
- Any negotiations, please contact me.
- Advice, please be wary of your spending habits. But if you ever quickly change your mind but have already sent points, just sell back during that same day to get full refund.
- Finally, no complaining. If I don't get to your post or update the stock values, it's because I'm busy, out of town, or dead, you know real-life stuff. So yeah, sophisticated businesspeople do not tolerate complaining.

Is there a maximum number of stock I can buy or sell of a given community?

You can buy up to 100 of any stock. For example, 50 of one and 50 of another. You can sell as many as you want at any given time.

So.. You mentioned there being a price for buying stock, yet I don't see a specific number regarding it. How much would one of these cost?

The price in points per stock is in bolded numbers in Current Market Value.

Technically, no. I'm thinking about adding a limit, however.

Ah, a stock exchange. I'll like to buy 80 1v1 (obvious reasons are obvious), 10 Misc, and 10 TCG Card Discussion. That'd be 500 pts, correct?

Problem with this game is that trends don't really happen, so there's no fun from trying to predict them. It's far too easy to buy whenever you see the price is lower than usual and sell when it rises. It's very difficult to incur a loss, so you never have anything to lose.

I think so, anyway.

I see your point. For now, trends will be unknown and activity will falter. In time, however, I'm confident they will show themselves.

I can also do some... Special things to make everything riskier. A stock market is never perfectly predictable.

Please stop. This is your last warning, since I feel like you've just misread what section this is. This is the General Section, not Miscellaneous or Games.
