VampireofDarkness
A few weeks ago I posted up a Monarch Deck that was based around Caius, eventually looking to work in Mega Caius. My idea was instead of Treeborn Frog, you use Edge Imp Sabres so you would always get the double banish effect. Then I realized with Tour Guide and Scarm you have a loop with Geargiagear Gigant XG. So I added that. Then I realized Plaguespreader + Edge Imp created free Synchros, so I test this and made it the center of the Deck. Then I realized you can make a one turn Mist Wurm, so I added that. Then I realized Shadowpriestess of Ohm stole games in this Deck like Dark Strike Fighter in 2009, so I added that. It became so much away from the actual Monarch Deck that when I tried cards that usually worked in Monarchs (Void Flood most notably), the Deck fell apart terribly. So what I ended up keeping was a strangely consistent, but working Deck. I had no clue what to call it, but recently a forum post on YCM inspired its title: Edge Imp Turbo. Slinky
except, plague and edge imp rapes your next 2 draws, and reduces your hand count by 2. it isn't worth doing that just for a level 5 synchro

Also, you're usually going for 7, 8, and 9 more often than 5. You only go into 5 when you have a really good play the next turn
goddamnit names are a pain
You never need 2 Edge Imps. Ever. -1 Shadow Priestess serves literally no point, drop it. -3 (total) Drop Scarm to one. -4 total Add 3 Malicious and a Destiny Draw, perhaps. Drop creeping Darkness. Drop the Continuous that revives banished ones. -4 3rd RoTA, 2 MSTs, Bottomless. Maybe. This deck feels all over the place. 3 Monarchs Storm forth…for three monarchs. If you want, you can make it Caius based and add Grudge, Trade In, Mega Monarch, etc. Advance Draw also feels pretty bad. Your extra deck is also pretty random and off. Two XGs are not needed, much less one. Beelze would be good. And for my recommendations, a few more level 8s are needed. Recommending a lot of stuff because the deck feels like it has no particular goal.

Two XGs are not needed, much less one. Beelze would be good. And for my recommendations, a few more level 8s are needed. Recommending a lot of stuff because the deck feels like it has no particular goal. Where do I start? First off, the Deck's goal is basically using Edge Imp for either the Tour Guide-XG Loop or crazy Synchro plays that give you a good field presence. It all adds up to where you pull out a game ender and seal the deal. It pulls it off more than it seems it would. Think of it like Summer 2014 Infernity, except without the 5 monster board every turn. It can get really crazy pulling off Turn 4 Double XG or even Turn 1 Leo, and the Extra Deck doesn't even BEGIN to describe the combos you can pull off, just because of Edge Imp being a card. I can see where one would think there isn't a huge goal, and with that there probably needs some fixes to be happening, especially since the play style of this Deck has changed severely since its last post. That being said, I'll look at your thoughts: - Edge Imp you actually need the 2 because of Tour Guide being one of the central engines of this variant. It also serves as a cost for Dark Grepher. Also, what if it gets banished? GG. 3 is so bad it's not even funny, but 2 works - Shadowpriestess ends games and was searchable via Creeping Darkness, which means if your opponent has 1600 LP or less, sometimes 2400 or less, you already won. If I take out Creeping Darkness (Ser below), it's definitely gonna go, but I'll keep one if it stays because it does a lot more than you'd expect - Malicious and Destiny Draw sound fitting actually, probably didn't consider it before because I was working with when it was a Monarch Deck. I actually feel silly now and will definitely add them in somewhere - Creeping Darkness and Escape work with Plague and Creeping exchanges dead cards for live combos. However, they aren't always the first thing you want, though it isn't nearly as bad as top decking Stormforth. A simple Creeping Darkness sometimes brings you back into the game by giving you essentially a Goyo, Hot Red, or Mist Wurm depending on your Grave and your situation. Escape does a lot of things, but I will probably try without it. - Stormforth is probably worth removing, but remember, you can also use it for Darklord Zerato. You essentially can Special a Grepher, dump 3, Stormforth for Zerato, then Raigeki for a 4th dump. That being said, this becomes one of the deadest draws in a dire situation, so I might just take this out - I like the idea of Mega Caius, but this is supposed to be a faster Deck, which is where Zerato comes in. Zerato really advances your game and the fact that you can use it more than once per turn has saved me enough times. I have tested both and never found a correct answer for which I like best, so I will have to try them both with the new changes - Grudge is eh, I tried it before, but it was very inconvenient. Again with wanting to make the Deck fast, you don't want to rely on Monarchs to make your big push. It isn't really worth it, to me at least - Back when this was a Monarch Deck, Card Advance was amazing because you could stack your Deck and get an actually useful topdeck on top of a Tribute Summon. However, I'll be dropping this for the Malicious since again this is no longer Monarch centric and is more Edge Imp Combo shenanigans. - Beelze I have never been a huge fan of. It's good and all, but too many people run the outs this format. I would run Void Ogre before I run Beelze, especially when you are depleting your hand with Plague and Sabres. Malicious makes that sound even better. - Hot Red is not only a very nice front row wipe, but it also works in that it serves as an out to El Shaddoll Construct, this Deck's main issue. Yazi is GG vs. Burning Abyss unless they Acid Golem which probably means GG as well since you'll have enough field presence to keep up with such card. Armades + Catastor because Level 5 is easy, Mist Wurm and Leo have a lot of combos, and most of the Xyz are self explanatory. - XG is amazing in this Deck. I can't begin to describe how good it is. It freezes Shaddoll Flip Effects, you can activate it multiple times in a turn, and it has a loop with Tour Guide, Scarm, and Edge Imp. With 2, you not only can continue the madness, but when both get destroyed, 1 goes to the Extra Deck. Such a card in this Deck. If I need to cover anything else, enlighten me, but I think that does it, and I'll try to update it tomorrow with the Malicous engine at least
