Arguments about Anime

The entire idea of sub-medium not being a medium sounds...dumb. It's like saying rock isn't a medium since it's a subgenre of medium "music".

My point on anime not being a medium still stands, I think! If anime is a medium then I will have to add some more mediums to the medium mix.

Anime is just japanese cartoons anyway; How is that different from 2-D?

because anime is awesome, while cartoons tend to lack in some areas, especially those of american origin.

Well, since it's not different from Misc it honestly won't matter if I moved the thread.

this is already in misc.... lol xD

Go watch exo squad or gargoyles or any number of other great american cartoons with complex plots and excellent writing before you make generalizations like that,  please.

Anime is more or less a genre, if anything. Its a type of animation that comes from a specific region/culture with its own inherent tropes.

Please share with the class.

Well, I'll say it to you specifically then. Cause I've said it a lot but Noober just wants attention at this point.

Basically my thinking on it is. Anime is different enough from other forms of animation to be logically classified as a different genre, and thus it's perfectly okay to separate it from other styles of animation as a whole.

Not to mention it's just so much more convenient to separate it.

Different genre, sure!  I mean hell, there are plenty of different genres within anime.  I just mean I think it's not technically it's own medium

It's worth separating from western animation, but it's still the same medium, just in a different flavor.
