Unfortunately, as a rearguard, he can still get his ass hauled by Chronos Command/Blaster Joker/Route Flare. But this is a hell of a start to Aqua Force not being so harshly wrecked by bad matchups. I'm sort of hoping one of the Aqua Strides just gives all of your units Hexproof until the opponent's next end phase. But that'd be too good.

I wonder what the ruling would be if you had to retire this through the effect of Gauntlet Buster, or Ignition Dragon. I'd assume he wouldn't be affected given it's your opponent's effect, BUT you're choosing what to retire.

A2. It cannot choose it with the "The opponent chooses one of their own Rearguards" text. If there are other Rearguards, they must be chosen instead.
