Smash 3DS tournament (Sign up now)

I just don't want people to be forced to go against custom moves if they really don't want to, is the issue I'm thinking about. Some people don't play with them, but it's possible.

Okay, well they should be pretty safe then, a bit more thoughts on this would be good. No offense I just want to see what others think.

I think no one will disagree they're nice stages.

Also they don't have to join a custom moves tournament if they don't want to.

I've already called my draw in the lot a long time ago.

That tier list could be highly subjective. I'd moreso lean towards the one posted a while back that had ZSS, Sheik and Yoshi at the top

Bowser is NOT so low.

This still has ZSS, Shiek and Yoshi at the top.  It's just more up-to-date than that outdated list since it constantly updates.  The only reason why Bowser is so low is that, despite the speed buffs he got, his predictable pattern and size makes him too easy to deal with.  If you are more curious on it, you could click to see how Bowser fares against each of the other characters in match-ups.

But I mean, anyone could just...vote

I'd rather wait for professionals to conduct legit studies.

Of course, there wouldn't be that much of a discrepancy, but... XP

It's as close to professional studies as possible.  But, this is much more legitimate than the first list we are accustomed to since it does develop over time.  First list said that Palutena is the worst character.  Here, it says she is mid C Tier, which sounds much more plausible.  Meanwhile, Donkey Kong takes her spot as the character least likely to win, followed by Olimar.

Aren't there actual professionals in tournaments who work on updating and optimizing the tier list?

IDK, it can't be TOO far, but then again, some would just vote for their mains or their favorite characters.

Also Villager is NOT that low, no way in hell.

The only reason Palutena was ranked so low is because she has possibly the steepest learning curve of everyone in the game. The harsher the curve, even in a good character, the worse they'll look on early results.

There are people who do their best to break the code of the game, and it's likely too early too early to make a solid list. Even Brawl's list changed time and again as new ways to use characters were found and changed the metagame.

I'd go so far as to say both of the tier lists are actually wrong, as winning the most early on often means they simply have the most forgiving learning curve. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to be wrong, just that you cannot trust personal results. If you ask someone who I used to play with who the best fighter was in Brawl, they'd possibly say Ike, because I tended to win the most in scrub matches.

That's just my two cents.

Things we still need:

1.) Confirmation on if custom moves is allowed.

2.) Confirmation on any more stages allowed.

3.) List of those interested. Preferably with their timezone if possible.

4.) If this will be a free tournament and if there is a prize. And what.

5.) Anything anyone can come up with I'm forgetting because I'm sick and dumb right now.

Imma make a poll. It'll be up in a bit. About the custom moves.

I can make a trophy but only if I lose. Because making a trophy for myself would be freaking egostistical.

But no seriously.

We need to start taking participants.

I'm free on Wednesdays after 2 PM and Thursdays and Saturdays after 5 PM. Other days I'm on at night.

Also the following stages are good:

All Omega

Battlefield
Yoshi's Story (or...Island, whichever one we have)

Counterpicks:

Tomodachi Life
Arena Ferox

I propose that all preliminary rounds be set in Battlefield and the finals (including semi-finals) be set in Final Destination.

But like

y no variety tho?

I think he means that all first rounds should be in Battlefield and then only the final match be set in Final Destination. Anything else would be up to the combatants.

So are we agreed on everything else?

Really want to get this thing going . . .

Sure, FD is good for finals, but it's a 3-game thing anyway, I would wanna use differnt ones.

I think it makes most sense to let all the matches be chose whatever stage to be honest.

Alright, gonna update the OP with what seems to be final rules. (I guess those stages are fine since no one seems to mind, but the counter-pick ones if anyone has major issues let them be known.)

Everyone leave your name, and times you can be on if you want in.

Dunno' if I want to take part in this....

F*ck what you want! You're joining d*mn it!

Count me in! And Arm while you're at it!

As for prizes I say not only a Smash Trophy but points from the contestants- gambling and what not.

I can be on almost anytime Monday after 12:10; Tuesday after 10:40; Wednesdays from 12:10 to 6:00; Thursdays and Fridays after 9 PM; Saturdays and Sundays are a toss up. All of that Eastern Standard Time, as I live in Florida.
