Alice Moonflowyr
“Hush child, you are alright. You’ve been hurt.” “Why are we helping? Just kill it now and be done with it.” “Fool! We cannot just kill the poor thing!” You stir as you hear two voices bickering. A calming, female voice dominates over a gruff, raspy male voice. “Ah, don’t move!” the female voice says, and you feel a soft hand on your forehead, gently pushing you back down onto the soft ground. “You took quite a beating…” “I still think it’s better off dead,” came that gruff voice again. “Heartless bastard,” the female muttered. “Can you speak? Tell me your name…” My name? That’s right. I have a name. What was it again? Name: Oh. That’s right. I think I whispered to the woman, who nodded approvingly. I cry out slightly as a small pain starts working its way through my chest. The woman places a cold hand on my bare skin, soothing the pain with a spreading coolness that envelopes my body. “Hush child, lay back now. How old are you?” How old am I? Age: Right. That’s right. I mutter to the woman again as I pry my eyes open slightly. A harsh white light strikes my eyes as I gaze upon a pale woman with long white hair, striking blue eyes staring me in the face. Behind her is the silhouette of a short, stocky man with a thick, long beard. “Well, if we can’t kill it, we need to send it back where it came from.” “Oh of course. But…with a gift.” “Another one? You are being reckless.” “Hush!” I feel…strange. My vision swims in front of me as the woman whispers comforting words, tracing her finger across my chest. I feel a heat spreading through my body, starting at my toes and flowing up to the rest of my body. I feel wounds knit shut as my heart begins thudding, as if it had never stopped. Stopped? Oh. That’s right. I died. Am I waking up now? “Wake, child. Wake, and live your new life…” the woman says lovingly as I pass out, drifting down into a sea of clear blue water. Then I am awake. … Well. Welcome, my friend. You already spoke of two important parts of your character, but a name and a number aren’t exactly enough, now are they? If you could be so kind, please include the following details in your character application. Bio: * Personality: * Appearance: * State of Mind: You’ve just been through something terrible. How well is your mind taking it? Keeping your Incident of choice in mind, construct a viable mental state for yourself, keeping the vision in mind as well. Incident: What happened? Something terrible, obviously, but what? Please, tell me. Skill: Refer to Skills section. Shortcomings: Refer to Skills section. That should be all I need. Go on, tell me. Who are you?
…
Ah, so you’ve finished. Good, good. Come with me, if you so please. Who am I? No one important. Now come. Alright, we’re here. The laws of our world. Please, memorize these. They are quite important. No God-Moding General Rules of YCM apply. Be polite to your RP buddies here. One character per person. Reserves are accepted, but you have a time limit of one week. Once this expires, you do not get a second chance. Under any circumstances. If there are still openings when your reserve expires, you may post an application then and there, but you do not get a second reserve. No matter what. Limiting this to 8 people.

Okay, so this is where I go OOC and explain to you exactly what you’re gonna be doing with this. Your character has been in a really bad accident, and technically died. They have a vision of two beings and they bring you back to life for an unknown purpose. Your objective (should be) is to figure out that purpose. A few important things to note. Magic is not a thing for PC’s to have right now. However, the more important NPC’s might have various ‘otherworldly’ abilities. Combat. There will be some, but this is more of a mystery/figure out what the hell is happening RP. However, unless you are dedicating your character to it, you have minimal combat training. You are allowed to create a character that, for example, might run a martial arts dojo, and they would naturally be skilled at hand-to-hand combat. What you can’t do is make an everyday student who, oh by the way, is a super-awesome black belt in Kung-Karate-Tai-Muai-Boxing.

There is a slot in the character application with it next to a ‘Refer to Skills Section’ notice next to it. Lets explain that real quick. Skills! So, you get to pick a single Skill for your character here. What does this do? Studious The Studious skill allows you to research things faster, more accurately, and you’ll know where to get the correct information, whether it’s paper, word of mouth, or cyber. Sneaky Characters who choose the Sneaky skill are, well, sneaky. But not only are you good at going unnoticed in dark alleys, you are far better at lying, feigning emotion, and spotting getaway routes than the average person. Athletic Pretty self-explanatory, really. You run faster, punch harder, and last longer than the average person. Clever Smarty-pants. Clever characters can solve problems, locate patterns, and are generally just smarter than other people. Smartass. Underhanded Underhanded characters aren’t afraid to hit below the belt. They fight dirty, they know your weak points both physical and emotional, and aren’t afraid to blackmail, bribe, or otherwise cheat their way in and out of scenarios. And they are damn good at it. Charismatic Man, people just love you! You could convince that cute girl over there that this burrito is a rabbit if you tried hard enough, you know. People just are drawn to you and want to like you, which can be pretty useful sometimes, no? So, I said you only got to pick 1 skill. Well, I lied. You can pick two…if you pick a Shortcoming. Each shortcoming has 2 ‘Incompatible’ Skills, meaning you cannot have both that Shortcoming and either Skill listed. Shortcoming list. Slower Than Most When it’s time to hit the books, you’re about as useful as a blowtorch. You get bored, you read the same sentence multiple times, you mess up page numbers, but worst of all, you just have not the faintest idea of what you’re doing. Incompatible With: Studious, Clever Wimpy Picked last for every team, always failing those high school football tryouts, and choosing to spend more time watching TV than lifting weights. Yup, you’re the wimp. You get winded easily and you can’t give or take a punch to save your life. Sucks to be you, I guess. Imcompatible With: Athletic, Charismatic Terrible Liar Face it. You don’t have a deceptive bone in your body. When you tried lying to your mom about that bag of Halloween candy that one year, she saw right through it. You stutter. You trip over minor details. You avert your eyes. And you also have this thing called a ‘conciense’. Which can be a pain, but it’s usually a good thing. Incompatible With: Sneaky, Underhanded.

With that out of the way, I think we’re good. Oh. Wait. One more thing. You’re immortal.

Oh, and by the way, I'm not creating a character here. I'm controlling the NPCs, the environment, the bad guys, and also whether or not you all succeed at...certain things. There's a reason that the Skills are a thing! Tesability Black
If you added a shortcoming that made it horrendously difficult for a person to focus on things outside of certain obscure subjects, you could pull what I call the 'Aspergian combination' with that, Clever and Studious. Also, is this modern day, where there would be hospitals such as Scott & White, or what kind of time setting is this?
