Eria, the Water Lady

Azure Wolf

Just an idea that came to me when I was thinking what one-off card I should make.

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by tributing 1 level 3 or 4 WATER Spellcaster-type monster. At the start of damage calculation if this card battles a WATER monster with a lower ATK: You can take control of that monster. If this card would be destroyed by battle, you can banish 1 WATER monster from your hand or Graveyard instead.

For the first effect there are 19 cards which can summon it: the gishki spellcasters, Ice Barriers spellcasters, any Eria cards, Fortune Lady Water, Gemini Summoner, Green Turtle Summoner and Archmage of the Necloth. The second effect is mainly geared currently towards Necloths and can currently get over 6 of the rituals: Brionac, Catastor, Clausolas, Trishula, Unicore and Gungnir. The third effect is there to prevent destruction at the cost of a WATER monster from your hand or graveyard.

I'm not sure how good this card would be in Water based decks as the only deck I play which is based around water monsters is Fishborgs (I have tried Necloths, and haven't found that fun to play.) Well CnC welcome and opinions on what decks this would be good in are appreciated.

I think it looks good. As far as the effects go:

"Battles" can be a very wide term in the game of yugioh, you should really state when you can control of the monster - at the start of damage calculation, after damage calculation, if it just targets a water monster for an attack. etc...

Destroyed by battle - At first I was thinking banishing from hand or grave was a little much but now I think it's fine, since it has no other protection from spells and such. There should also be a comma or colon after " If this card would be destroyed by battle you can banish".

I'll help you with the ocg a bit

  •  Before of damage calculations; if this card attacks or is attacked by a WATER monster with lower ATK than this card; you can take control of that monster. If this card would be destroyed by battle: You can banish 1 WATER monster from your hand or graveyard instead.

becomes

  • At the start of damage calculation if this card battles a WATER monster with a lower ATK: You can take control of that monster. If this card would be destroyed by battle, you can banish 1 WATER monster from your hand or Graveyard instead.

Everything before the colon : is part of the activation (what's required for the effect to take place). After the colon is the effect. The semicolons ; you had aren't needed. They go after the colon to signify any cost needed before the effect takes place (in which case for this one there are none).

On the 2nd part of the effect you can have a colon or comma. The difference is a colon represents a trigger effect (one that takes place when something happens). Which might sound confusing considering this effect is taking place when the card would be destroyed by battle. However the difference is a comma represents a continuous effect. One that is always active and can't be chained to (which most self protection effects are see Fortune Tune and Zenmaines).

Hopefully that helps. :)
