Draconus297
All things that make no sense in fiction can be traced to one of the five Rules: The Rule of Funny- it was added in to make the audience laugh. The Rule of Sexy- it was added in to arouse the audience. The Rule of Cool- it was added in because it looked/sounded cool. The Rule of Drama- it was added in to make a given scene/event more dramatic. The Rule of Lazy- the creator responsible simply did not cover their mistakes, due either to failure to notice them or being too lazy to rectify them. Have a moment that doesn't make sense? Bring it here, and we as a community will sort out which Rule it applies to. COME ONE, COME ALL!
Nazara
YOUR RULES OF HUMOR ARE IRRELEVANT. THEY SHALL BE DESTROYED, ALONG WITH THE REST OF YOUR CIVILIZATION.
Draconus297
Damn it all . . . can we get a cleanup on aisle idiot? I have not the time to deal with . . . scum.
Aix
Yeah, but these rules aren't excuses for bad writing.
Draconus297
Of course they aren't excuses. There is never an excuse for bad writing. However, once we locate the causes of errors in our favorite works, we can begin reconstructing those works with fewer flaws. Always a plan, never fully revealed. Nazara
OVERTHINKING IS IRRELEVANT. NONSENSE IS IRRELEVANT. THERE ARE SIMPLY THINGS YOU MORTALS SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND.
Pinkie_Pie
The Rule of Funny- it was added in to make the audience laugh. That sounds like me! I do all sorts of super duper silly things all the time :D The Rule of Sexy- it was added in to arouse the audience. All of us ponies DO have bedroom eyes, so.... The Rule of Cool- it was added in because it looked/sounded cool. I've seen Rainbow Dash pull off lots of spectacular tricks, so that counts! The Rule of Drama- it was added in to make a given scene/event more dramatic. Rarity is aaaaaaaaaalllllll over this one... Teehee The Rule of Lazy- the creator responsible simply did not cover their mistakes, due either to failure to notice them or being too lazy to rectify them. Fluttershy is still half bat, so that also applies!
Draconus297
. . . I'm half-tempted to add that damned show to The List, so I can objectively analyze it for myself, but between the absurdly violent hatedom and the ridiculously obsessive fandom, my "meh, I wouldn't know" response is probably for the best.
