Favorite YuGiOh Anime Duels?

The title says it all. Personally mine is the last duel between YuGi and Pegasus (Match of the millennium). When I first saw it (A very long time ago), I felt as though there really was no way to beat Pegasus. Out of all of the duels from then, none of them were as suspenseful as that duel.

So whats yours?

Yugi vs Joey in the Pegasus tourney is cool (Both fusion summon on their first turn)

Also Yugi vs Strings in Battle City (Although it was a load of bulls***)

Yusei Fudo vs Skeleton Knight in the 1st book of the Manga is interesting.

The Yuya vs Fortune Teller girl with the Ritual Monster in Arc-V is pretty cool too (With the whole miracle thing and the Rune-Eyes Dragon)

Surprisingly, I've never seen Yugi vs Pegasus, so I need to watch it soon.

Thanks for the discussion. Yes I mean the YuGiOh anime in its entirety.

Do GX - Arc V count?

If they do, Yusei v Z-ONE; final Yusei v Jack in 153-154, Kaito v Mizael.

Haven't exactly finished the original series though, so not really a lot of matches I like in there.

(Probably Yusei v Marik in finals)

I really did enjoy the Yusei vs Zone duel for many reasons. That would have been my second option.

Pretty much the entire Duelist Kingdom duels: They were really fun to watch, and a reminder of the days when the monster designs were actually imaginative. Nowadays, it's just archetypes that clump together with no individual identity.

Atem vs. Rafael 1: That was a fun duel. Looking back, I remember in Duelist Kingdom where Yugi and Atem clashed over endangering Kaiba's life. That should have been an ongoing conflict with the characters, at least in the anime version. It would've made Atem giving in to his greed in part 2 an even greater scene, and his loss at the end even more devastating.

The rest of the Doma arc: Especially Joey vs. Vallon.

Joey vs. Marik: RANT TIME. Joey should've won, and Takahashi is bad for not making it so. Yugi vs. Marik was doomed to suck because it followed a major grudge match in Yugi vs. Kaiba. While Yugi had about 100 episodes of a personal rivalry with Kaiba, Yugi and Marik had no real interaction beyond Yugi's scolding Marik for being evil and Marik's generic villain taunts in response. This, and the promised Yugi vs. Joey for the Red-Eyes would've been a great ending to the tournament, which was devalued since it happened off-screen. Other than that, it was a great duel.

Joey vs. Kaiba (DK): Made Joey credible as being inexperienced. Also, set up a potential rivalry with Joey and Kaiba.

Joey vs. Kaiba (BC): An excellent follow-up to Yugi vs. Kaiba. Joey being awesome, Kaiba getting pissed off.

Jaden vs. Kagemaru: Bubbleman killing 2 gods was hilarious, made better with the dub's music.

Zane vs. Aster: Aster being a douche with Sparkman. It showed that Zane can express an emotion besides cold indifference, or whatever the "cool guy" archetype expresses.

Chazz vs. Slade: Reason #34545656 why Chazz is the best character in the series not-named Bastion or Axel.

Chazz vs. Aster: Best ending ever. The best ending ever. Also, Chazz in an Ojama suit.

Jaden vs. Bastion: Bastion running Cursed Seal to stop Jaden's fusions is the smartest thing a Yugioh character has ever done, and I wonder how Yusei can be championed for being smart when he wasn't smart enough to do the same against the Meklords.

That X-Saber guy vs. Gogenzaka: I threw money at the screen when X-Saber guy dropped all those Synchros. Why did the 5D's anime focus on garbage like the Meklords and the depressed Neo-Spacian Robot Man instead of awesome stuff like this?

Yuya vs. Reiji: Tense ending, but I would've like to see Yuya lose (I really don't care how it affects the school that was barely touched upon. At least when Duel Academy was under threat of a takeover, there had been plenty of world-building for me to at least care.) The DDDs are probably the first anime archetype in years (Armors were the last) to look awesome.

Probably most Duelist Kingdom and Atem vs Rafael's duels from Duel Monsters

Chazz vs Aster, Atticus vs Yusuke Fujiwara and Jesse/Yubel vs Zane in GX

Nothing really in 5D's as its really Yusei winning all the duels he is in except in flashbacks

Kaito vs V and Kaito and Mizeals final duel in Zexal

Yaiba vs Goganzaka and Yuya vs Gongezaka in Arc-V

DM- Yugi vs Rafael. First time Yugi legit loses a Duel, and even before using the Orichalcos, he was getting his butt kicked. The stupid amount of combo and damage output he could put out after playing the Orichalcos made Rafael even more impressive for holding out against it.

GX- There's actually a lot of good Duels.

5Ds- Yusei vs Rudger (first match), Yusei vs Kiryu (first match and Crashtown match), Yusei/Kiryu vs Lotten. 5Ds vs Team Ragnorak. 5Ds vs Team Unicorn. 5Ds vs Team New World, with emphasis on Aporia's episode. Yusei vs Z-one.

Zexal - Any Duel Kaito was in. Shark vs IV. Nasch vs IV. Vector vs Yuma. Yuma vs Nasch. Don Thousand's Duel was good if you manage to overlook how preposterious BS it was.

Arc-V - Wow. Gogenzaka vs Yaiba. Yuya vs Reiji. Yuya vs Sawatari (Championship match). Shun vs Masumi/Hokuto/Yaiba. The Duels in this series are overall really good, but those particularly stand out as being intense.

Throughout all generations, there has been a ton of iconic duels.

I'd choose Kaiba vs Yugi in Battle City. It is one of the most iconic Duels of all time. Even though they used a ton of never-before-seen cards, it was a great exchange to watch since it was so interactive and all the decisions were based off of the information they already held about their opponent's mindset and iconic cards/plays. Analyzing the psyche of the players was as big of a part as the gameplay itself, and it also was clever at making the gods dance around their effects from the technical loopholes that made it bypass the immunity. Oh and the animation of some cards was great.

The only downsides were Ishizu filling up with boring dialogues that padded the event from potential three to a six-part duel, and Yugi using Kaiba's Flute. Those took away from the experience.

You didn't think Joey's dream sequences during the duel was a downside?

Huh I had.... well, I didn't forget they existed, but I didn't remember when they had happened... Yeah it definitely counts as another one if it was during those episodes xD
