Rodrigo
What should I watch first then o.O Index or Railgun? Because Index is older.
Brinolovania
I dunno which is better to watch first. I watched Railgun first, but that was just because literally the only reason I started watching it was the name.
Wildflame
Index 1 > Railgun 1 > Index 2 > Railgun 2 From older to newer, honestly.
goddamnit names are a pain
Index came first, watch it first. It explains everything. Not to mention, has both "factions". Railgun is great but it sort of ignores the whole existence of the other side, which is a pivotal part of the story. Index also because Index. Watch railgun first. Otherwise you will be sitting there going "wtf is esper" How so? Do they not explain what Academy City is in like episode one? The whole level 0 shit and stuff? There's no way they don't... Rodrigo
I love MAL's ratings. In order of best to worst: Railgun 2 > Index 2 > Railgun > Index

(GigaDrillBreaker)
Railgun (1) takes place canonically prior (aside from the first like 3 episodes of index). Really, either works, but this is the way I introduce it and multiple friends have thanked me for it.
goddamnit names are a pain
I love MAL's ratings. In order of best to worst: Railgun 2 > Index 2 > Railgun > Index What the f***. Railgun 2 was great, yes. And so was Index 2, but Index one and Index II pretty much tie for me, if not lean towards I. Lets be honest though, second seasons go off of existing and developed characters while developing their own new ones, and that is what makes a good season, I guess. Railgun one…yeah, I don't think that beat the original. On the bottom of my ranking. I mean they all feel like a continuum so I don't really want to rate individually, but still... In terms of opening songs? Start by watching Railgun =>

goddamnit names are a pain
Alright, so Railgun 1, then Index 1, then Railgun 2 and Index 2? I really still recommend watching Index I because it came first. Not to mention it has the best side stories among the 2. Need I dare utter his glorious name?
Accelerator, bítches.
However, if you like the idea of starting smaller and then expanding into much more diversity, then yes, start with Railgun. But then I almost recommend watching R1 and R2 and then watching I1 and I2. …damn, the order doesn't really matter. I1 gives details on things that lead up to parts in R1…and vice versa. WATCH BOTH AT THE SAME TIME GOD OF CONQUEST MODE
